4x2 to 4x4 swap (using 78 donor)
Has anyone converted a 2wd 70 to 4x4 using 78 type donor parts. How close are the spring mounts and cross members. I want to remove the crossmember and spring mounts from the 78 and install to the 70 frame(frame is tweaked from wreck).

Coils are in the rear now, but will come out and leafs will go in also. I have a complete and running 78 4x4 as a donor( the frame is bent).

The front springs are longer on your 78. I have seen people redrill the frame to relocate the front spring rear shackle swivel in order to use '73up front springs. You will also need to use the 4X4 engine crossmember. I have seen a rear coil truck converted to 4x4 by putting the rear axle UNDER the trailing arms, put I didn't notice what they did for driveshaft clearance.
