WTB: Shifter lever spring
i need the little spring that holds the shifter lever out inside the steering colum for a 71

tx ff, went by the dealership the other day, they told me parts not available anymore, so im still looking if anyone has a old junk steering colum with the spring in it, im interested.

My neighbor is a parts guys in my local Chevy dealership. I don't know the number because he makes me a special deal on them.
They are still available though. |

If it is a non tilt, then there is no spring.
That might be why the dealer said no number. If it is a tilt, I can get you the number in the morning. |

longhorn, thats interesting no spring on non tilt, seems there should be a spring in there to pick up some of the slop? i guess im searching for something thats not available. im getting a little sqeak in the lever area that drives me crazy, it seems to stop when i hold the shifter lever, i have pulled apart and greased but didnt help?

I am not 100% familiar with the non tilt anymore. I am thinking there is a spring at the bottom of the column (In the engine compartment) that pushes the shifter tube which in turn pre loads the shifter. Odds are, the bearing and spring in the bottom are kerfagled.

i replaced both upper and lower bearing, spring is snug, just seams like there should be a spring in shifter lever, i figured i lost it when i pulled colum?
