86-90 Buick LeSabre / Park Ave. have the hinges you want. A couple of board members have done this swap.

well my DD is an 88, and its my 2nd one. The forward tilt hood is definitely one of the few cool things about the car,

I was at the local salvage yard the other day and saw at lease of the la-sabre. style of front tilt hood. I asked sales how much it would cost for all the parts needed and they said $25 not a bad price. Now to just get some time off and go back for the parts. Anybody got any detail pictures of of the mods they made on the truck to make it work?

hey here is a picture of what i designed. in the picture it is not done but the reason i built it like this was so it opened real low so it wouldnt stick up really high. also, the way i made it the hood was held out in front of the pickup a way so there was more room. i can get you more pictures, but sadly i cant get any dimensions because i sold the pickup last saturday

Benrs86 I'd like to see more pictures. Did you use the laSabre unit or was it a total custom fab? I like the fact that it tilts so low in the front.

Very nice hoods. I wonder if the complete tilt front end is possible on these trucks.

i will get more pictures this weekend from home. i did start from scratch but i used a couple parts from the old hinges because the bolt holes were already there. the latch on mine is from a 89 dodge pickup and when you pull the release in the cab it opens about 3 inches (the original springs are used to pull) then it rolls toward the front and tilts down. i was very suprised at how well it worked and nice it fit. i definately should have taken down some dimensions before i sold the pickup. i could always build another one, the most time consuming part was getting the roller tracks toward the back angled right so the hood would drop down in at the last second, otherwise since the hood is wider at the back then the front it would rub.

benrs86 what do you mean by the roller tracks i was going to use half inch stanless rod and cut some pipe to size wild two to the top of the hood and the other two to the radiator support bend the rod and pin it and use the hood latch thats on it already would this work thanks shannon

shannon the only reason i didnt use the original hood latch was because the hook sticks up about 4 or 5 inches and the hood sort of angles down into where it is supposed to be. hard to explain, but with the hinges in the back it closes at this angle / when the pickup is facing < and with the new hinges it closes at \ angle. i will get some pictures. ohyeah with the new latch its also nice because you release it from inside and when the hood slides forward a few inches everyone ooohs and aahhs and it makes me proud of my work.

I've run across a site that makes fiberglass bodies and panels for our trucks and also have a tilt front end option. Their flip bracket is shown and even though this may not be most cost effective or even the style you want it is another option... Here's the link, once you link to the 67-72 era you can scroll down to see the bracket "in action" ooooooh

I found this last night
I was actually forced to new boards and ran across this. The second and third pages have good pictures. A lot of good advice is given from two people that did it totally different.
