I know this probably has been asked a million times so please point me in the direction of the most detailed thread I wanna try TPI on my 70 and want to know the best donor and what all i need to pull from the donor car and any tips to make it easy for those of us who think anything after 79 is a late model thanks Mike

there`s a guy with one on here that goes by the name grendel i believe. he has an 86` model one which will work with older style cyl. heads. i think he wanted $350 for it. that was with harness, dist, ecm and all the good stuff to get it going too. that`s a good deal and if i had some extra $$$ i would get it in a heartbeat. i sold my similar set up on ebay a few months back for $750 so his price is a super deal, good luck, eric.

if you do go with the tpi, try to get it as complete as possible (press reg. pump, lines, wiring, sensors etc.). there`s nothing worse than hunting down a bunch of nick nack $5 dollar parts. i think in 87 or 88 they went to the diff. lower intake for newer heads, but the only diff is the center bolt to the head and it can be elongated or modified. the set up for sale on the board should be a direct bolt up for pre-86 heads. you will most likely have to have the ecm reprogrammed/tweaked, and you don`t want to run any type of radical cam/porting or anything of that nature.

If you do decide to go with a TPI -- I'd suggest an 86 setup. It still has the big cap style HEI, and will fit your heads. You'll have to get the ECM reprogrammed to a 350 setup unless you score a TPI from an 86 Corvette.
Like was said earlier, the absolute cheapest way to do this is to go and buy an 86 TPI car, I bought "complete" setup off ebay, and have been nickled and dimed to death buying small things that it didn't come with. PS -- Avoid the 85 setup like the plauge unless you are willing to change the ECM... On that note, if you want to swap ECMs, there is a very very nice looking, and very completely setup on ebay right now, with a buy it now of 400, extremely good deal, and in extremely good shape.
