Radiator swap tips
Radiators leaking ..... so time to swap
This looks like a pretty straight forward job to me ... i hope the tranny cooler lines dont give me any problems .... any tips or suggestions for tackling this job ... thanks

You are right, the tranny cooler lines are your only concern. They are usually rusted to the line and twist instead of turning out. Probably not a concern for you in Oregon. For a quicky job I use a pipe cutter and splice in a rubber hose.

Sometiems tranny cooler lines are stuck You might spray them with penetrating blaster or wd-40
And use a flare wrench or a open end snap on or other good wrench. Ive seen too many of them stripped out from people using cheap-o 1/2 open end wrenchs. |

I did mine and it is pretty easy. Just make sure you get all of the water out.

Definitely use a flare/line wrench. Don't use the a vise grip (like previous owner of my green truck) unless it is the last resort......lol
Make sure the rubber supports are in good shape. You don't want you new radiator rubbing metal to metal. Don't over torque the clamps on the radiator and crush the pipe. All I can think of for now...... |

after replacing fill it up with water and check for leaks, after you make sure there's no leak drain and fill with 50% antifreeze solution

If your tranny cooler lines are stuck, you can heat them with a torch, a propain one will help, but won't work as well as a real one would.
