Kick-down question

When I installed my new carb, I didn't bother to mess with getting the kick-down hooked up to the new throttle. I'd like to get it hooked up now, since I'm doing more highway w/ hills and stuff. Is there a way to adjust the length of the cable, or am I going to have to fab up a new bracket to get the cable moved ahead a few inches? I would check my manual, but its a couple of hours away right now. Thanks for the help.

I suggest the spectre Bracket available at autozone Its a must when swapping carbs IMO. Some have rigged up stuff that works but the spectre bracket is cheap and adjustable

I have owned a russel aluminum bracket and i prefer the spectre espically after the russel broke in half.

I didn't realize there was a prefabbed bracket. Makes since, though. Its not like I'm the first guy to ever put an Edelbrock on a small block.

Thats what i do when i swap to an edelbrock or holley

Im not sure if its for that specific purpose but its ncie to have it bolts on the back driver side stud that the carb attaches too and thats it.

Thanks for the tip on the Spectre bracket. I had no idea they made one that would adapt the factory kickdown to an Edelbrock. To be sure, we're talking about adapting the factory kickdown plunger switch that normally mounts using the driver's side rear carb stud, right? Will it work with the factory throttle rod linkage (no cable)?

Yeah, but those are all cable setups, aren't they? I've got the factory kickdown switch and was hoping somebody had found a way to get it to work with an Edelbrock 1406 and throttle rod setup. Guess I'll have to save my pennies for the Lokar or something.

I could more than likely Fabricate something to work , More than likley would be as simple as making a little plate that would bolt onto the edelbrock and welding or bolting the q-jet bracket and switch to it.

Yeah, I need to get everything out and study it harder. I'm sure there's a simple solution that doesn't require $60 worth of parts.

I used the Lokar kickdown switch on my truck with Edelbrock carb and Th400

Friend of mine claims his dads 72 Cheyene Super has a gas pedal mounted kickdown switch Perhaps you could find one of them or submodify one off a 73+ i know there mounted to the pedal assy.
