Search DMV Database??
Does anybody know if you're allowed to search state (Tennessee in my case)
DMV databases for owners of a particular type vehicle to produce a name and address listing of people in your area? Jim Mt Juliet |

I remember about 10 years ago, there used to be advertisments in Hemmings for people that were able to do this for you. The ads are no longer there. I think it stopped when some sort of privacy act became law. I remember one company that would do it was based out of New Jersey. I know this woman that works at the DMV and my Mom knows the director of the DMV for the state. He is a client at the law firm she manages. I have always wanted to ask either of them for a few printouts but didn't because I don't want to put them in a situation that could get them into a tight spot. I will however ask for some tips to see if it can be done doing some research on my own. Legally of course. Not asking my Son and his buddies to hack a database.
