70 GMC, how rare?
Looked at a 70 GMC 2500 today for sale, my area. Has Custom above door handles, PS,PB, lower wood trim, headliner, factory bucket seats, 350 auto (engine not original?) VERY Rusty but complete, last run on road in '87, last "running" owner says about five years back, seats are shot, good tailgate, leaf spring Dana 60 no-spin rear. Has roof marker lights, extra disc brake 8 lug front suspension to go with, get this, NOS lower wood moldings (complete set with tailgate pieces) but packages are all ripped, some trim slightly scratched (bought maybe 15 years ago) Glove Box I.D. still intact showing posi rear, bucket seats, PS, PB. No tilt or tach or A/C. We're playing "Let's Make a Deal" right now, any guesses on what its really worth? Also comes with new rockers, cab corners, etc. Needs w/s, tires, exhaust, brakes, etc, not sure if engine runs, etc. Good title. Ideas? Thanks
GM

How rusty is it? The PA inspectors are a-holes when it comes to holes in the sheet metal.
I'd offer a c-note and see what happens. |

I agree with Longhorn Man on the price....That sounds like a fair deal. At this point, it sounds like a parts truck. You're always better off to start real low and negotiate up.

If it is not too much, grab it for the buckets..up here in Canada they are hard to come by and would bring a few dollars I am sure. Does it have a console?

Has a console. This guy seems to think this truck is worth $900.00 that's why I asked. Someone else offered him $600.00 and he wouldn't take it. Like I said, the NOS chrome doesn't look all that good unless maybe you were to use it for a driver. As for parts, an 8 lug Dana posi rear that might be good or might not, an engine that hasn't run in a LONG time, PS,PB, the buckets and console (seats need work) I think he's dreaming or fishin' for that price.

Six sounds reasonable to me, if prices there are like here. I wouldn't go 9

Hmm...900 bucks US equals about 1200 Canadian...well, maybe that is too high, but the buckets/console must be worth 500-600 or so if console is not trashed. I do not think the price is that out of line, but maybe Canucks just pay too much for stuff??

I wouldn't pay more than $300, and that's if the truck was in my home town. The buckets and console are only worth $200-$250 (maybe $300 since they have the original truck brackets.) The truck should have the under cab braces for the buckets as well, and there are board members looking for those. Other than that, the rest of the truck sounds like a pig in a poke.

Not really. I sold a set of original truck buckets to a board member for $170 plus shipping, and I threw in the console with seatbelt holders. They needed new upholstry and foam work. That's about all you can expect to get for buckets here... were are not like e-gay, we hook our fellow board members up! |
