Where is the windshield washer pump?

My windshield washer pump was disconnected when I got the truck...so I reattached the lines, but it still doesn't work. Can somebody tell me where the pump or show me a pic of what it looks like?

I haven't checked the fuse yet...does it have its own fuse or would other accessories be out as well if that fuse was bad?

The washer pump is mounted to the wiper motor under the dash just above the gas pedal.

The washer pump is not fused separately. If the wipers are working it should have power. If it does not activate when you press the button, then the pump could be bad, bad switch or a wiring problem.

Windshield washer pump is part of the wiper motor, located on the inner side of the firewall under the dash. It's a rubber diaphram type and probably is dry rotted. Fuse is same as wiper. I think you can buy a rebuild kit for the pump. I guess Jim was a little quicker at the draw than me

Thanks guys, GEEZ I would have NEVER found it! I would have torn apart the entire cowl looking for it!

Can I just buy a compatible pump or they don't make them anymore?

Is it a difficult job to swap out the pump?

Sweet 72,

Good point on the washer seal being dry. Usually they are too bad to make work. I went through 10 washer pumps looking for a good one with no success. I finally bought a new one!

I bought the pump at Napa in 1996 and at that time they offered a pump rebuild kit. Don't even waste your time going to Autoxone or any other discount parts house. Hopefully they still sell these parts, let us know please.

I gave up on my pump after getting frustrated to no end with it. I just bought one of those $8 aftermarket pumps, and a momentary on toggle switch. I by-passed the old pump entirely....

I needed and couldn't find one also. I bought the electrical after market pump and wired it into the switch so I didn't need the toggle !
