I just realized that my donor '68 327 that's going to be in my Panel has two different heads on it! The D/S one is #3846(8?)81, and has mounting holes for accessories, and the other one is # 3911032. This leads to a couple question. Which is the better head? No point matching the lesser one. And what potential damage has occured by running two diff heads?

Then, as I was pulling the motor out of my Panel today, it came right down to it and I gave the hoist some weight and pulled on the motor and the trans came with it! I had it unbolted at the bell housing, but the trans wasn't bolted to the cross member! The only thing that stopped it from hitting the floor was the three-on-the-tree linkages

They used to adjusted perfectly, anyway.

I think that I6 is a 250, but this is the # F0204CJL. Anyone know what it is?

Miss matched heads may not be a big issue...many times one number head will be so close to another number, that it is considered the same. (I don't have my handy dandy chart anymore)
As for the engine...are the motor mount towers (on the frame rails) straight across from each other...or staggared.
If straight across, then it'll be a 250 or a swapped in 230..if staggared, then a 292.

The 350 2 bolt that I pulled out of my 68 had mismatched rods, and a cracked lifter valley (that may have been my fault). It also had a 1/4" of bondo on most panels....and the only panels that were rusty were the front fenders.... Gotta love previous owners....

They are straight across from each other. My friend has a 292, and that's not what it is.

Yeah Ive seen an engine that had different heads one was a large valve 350 head the other was a teeny valve 267/305 head different chamber volume too.

Its amazing what some people will throw on just to get back going.

my truck has mismatched heads on it. one is a 487 lt1 head nd the other is a thick casting 883 smogger head. i've got another thick casting 883 smogger but would rather have new aluminum heads or another 487 lt1 head.
