If you're in Texas they are illegal. There are 29 states where they are legal on vehicles 25 years and older as long as they are less than 1" in diameter. More states are trying to go this way... Sucks to be in Texas...

I re-read what I said and I don't like the way it sounded, believe me there are things that suck in Ky too... I was refering to blue dots only. I can only wish we in Ky had access to as many nice rust-free trucks as they do in Texas. If I offended anyone I apologize... just wanted to let people know that it depends where you are as to what is legal. I know in Virginia you have to have a front plate, but other states you don't...

I live in Texas, and been running them for over 3 years. If they're illegal, then it still depends on the COP. Actually had trouble trying to get my safety inspection on the truck last year, because of them. Had a young teen going through the whole Texas/Inspection book to try and find something that I had illegal on the truck. He found a law that said "any alterations to lamps is illegal"...never mentioned it was illegal because it was blue, but because it was altered. Ended up driving down the road to another lube place (Old school guys), and the lights weren't even mentioned in the inspection. I'll keep my fingers crossed when I'm driving around.... |

I ran them for a few years in Tx, kept some old nasty ones on hand for inspection time....the few times I had real inspections done.
I've been running them here in Ohio since I moved back a little over three years ago, (very illegal here too) but only been given crap abut it once. |

Illinois Bill To Allow Blue-Dot Taillights on Collector Vehicles
Blue Dot Taillight Bill in Illinois A bill (H.B. 2270) has been introduced in the Illinois legislature that would allow antique vehicles to display a blue light of up to one-inch diameter as part of the vehicle’s rear stop lamps. Hobbyists are Encouraged to Contact Their Legislators To Support this Bill. Suck down the 40 AND screw up those 20 dollar lenses! Life is good...
