Thumbs up Big Block 4x4 Cab Fitment

Well I finally got the cab on so I could see if the Big Block had enough room, and I'm happy to say it did.

All I did was move it forward 2 1/4 inches, no body lift or anything else.

Now it's time to get started on all the body work.

I see you were smarter than me, test fitting before laying down the paint.

Looks great - I have a feeling I will be moving mine forward at some point.

Thanks 67c10step.

Now Yukon Jack, I wouldn’t say smarter, I actually should thank you. Watching your project and learning from it is the reason I did the test fit. There's no telling what kind of problems I would have run into if it wasn't for the people on this board, and yourself that take the leap first. We have to learn from each others mistakes, because if we didn't then that wouldn't be very smart. So thanks!

Cool

stelth2002, here is the link for the rad I used, and it is using the factory mounting points, I did have to do some trimming though. I don't remember the price, but it wasn't cheap.

I put this 454 in my 69 4X4 and I just moved the cross member to the forward holes in the frame and cut the middle of the cross member out and put the two ends back together where they bolt togther. I used small block rubber motor mounts. The 435 4 sp and 205 transfer bolted up in the same location as they were with the SB. It worked for me. I could send pics of the cross member if some one wants them.

pics of 454 in 69 4x4

Here they are!!! I had only one problem and that was clutch linckage. I just welded the block-post to a small plate that I made. That moved the post forward 2 inches so I could line it up with the frame slot. I can send pics of that to those who are interested.

Just let me know if you want any specific pic's. I put a Jimmy tank in the back of my long stepside. It fit real nice. I am bringing the fill out to the right fender. I am using a fuel door from a 49 Chevy sedan. I'll let you guy's see it when I get it done.
