Well,today I managed to get the bed back on the truck so I could see how it looks.Man,its huge...I dont think I will be able to get it out of the 9 ft door in the shop with the 35s.I will have my rims back Tuesday with the 35" Pro Comp tires on them.I also managed to find a rust free core support to use and dissassembled it and cleaned it up....Next will be body work on the bed,and cab when it goes on next weekend

Oh,Mike,you said there was rust around the t case x member,I found a extra in my parts shed if you need one

After doing body work on the bed,I found it has been though atleast 3 paint jobs
I took some areas down to the bare metal to see what I am dealing with.The drivers side needs only minor work around the wheel arch which is just a few pinholes.The passenger side is another story,so far I found from the sidemarker down on the back half is a bunch of bondo that will need replaced with new metal.I am cutting down a longbed metal floor to replace the remains of the floor in it.The wheel tubs and front panel are solid from what I can tell,the tailgate has been declared un-repairable.I guess I will find the full extent of the damage when I sandblast the bed.As for now...part of it is already in bare metal.Oh well,the front of the truck is rust free,the doors are too,now just need to adress the cab and bed....oh the joy of body work...

Wow, you are not kidding, those are spendy, guess that is why the PO did not put a set on.

Probably the reason...and now Im off to take pics of some 4x4 stuff and 2wd stuff to sell,then do some more body work on the truck bed.The tires are being mounted on the rims now,they will be back tomorrow

From the pics,you get a idea of the height without the big tires,add another 2-3 inches and that will be the final height.

Did more body work,the pass. side bed panel is almost all bare metal(and rust...)That side is pretty much shot,below the body line is all bondo & rust as you can see in the pics,what is above the line is lots of rust holes.Sorry for the pic quality,bondo dust was still flying around when I took the pics

Tonight I stripped the whole drivers side of the bed of paint and shot some flat black on for the time being....I then was bored so I painted the tailgate flatblack and the letters in the t.gate hugger orange
Not the best paint job...but I only spent a half hour on it...pics:

Forgot to mention....getting the 35s on 16x10 rims back tomorrow..as soon as I sell my excess parts then I can afford to buy more truck parts...

16x10 Eagle Alloys and 35 inch Pro Comp Mud Terrain Tires.Need to get some lugnuts to mount them but will temporarily put them on tonight

those look sweet Dustin... I bought new lug nuts at Advanced auto parts, they have the acorn style chrome ones for a good prices, don't use an impact on them though! Did you go with weights for balance or the "equal" powder? I have heard good things about it and it's actually cheaper than a regular balance...

I am not even going to try to balance them.Tires that big will never be balanced and I was agreed with from guys that run these big tires.I might try balancing them in the future after some road miles but wont even think about it for the time being

If you do then check into the bag stuff called "equal" Only $5 a tire...

I got the wheels and tires on,they are held on by some old lugnuts temporarily till I get the new ones.The truck looks great with the new wheels and tires.It makes me love the 4x4s more than I already did.Here is some pics.

I really like the look of 16 inch wheels. What motor are you going to be running? I'm sure you've already answered that but I missed it.

Its going to be a somewhat mild 350 most likely,it might be a 383.I am thinking hard on it

Thanks,and I dont know what I will do with all my time when Im not working on it I wont be done for along time,there is a motor to build,a body to repair,lots and lots of sanding and then paint.I will be busy for months to come.As for it looking like a truck,I plan on putting the cab and front clip on this weekend weather permitting

Today I went and ordered lug nuts & bought open center caps for the front rims.I was approached later by a mechanic in town that was working on a 69 c/30,he knew I was selling 67-72 parts and told me about this c30.I think what was starting as me selling parts is turning into me buying a truck.Its a low milage 69 truck that would require no body work,just bolt on and be done,except for paint.We shall see how this deal turns out.I most likely will buy it though

where did you order your center caps for lockouts? I need a set for my MT II's...

I saw go for the C-30, bolt and paint and be done...nice truck

I got them from the local tire shop that sells rims like I bought,I think they were around $16 a piece,could be wrong.If you cant find some,I could buy another set and list them on the parts board

Well,the rims I bought were for a newer chevy with the metric lugnuts so I had to order some in 7/16 for these rims.Well they came in today so now the wheel spacers,lug nuts and center caps are on.I also polished the rims too
Mike,let me know about the center caps,I will see about them and buy em and sell em to you if you want

These pics are a little dark.I just had to show off the rims again ,Mike,you can see the open center cap in one pic,I tried to focus on it.There is about a 1/4" gap between the hub and center cap.

I'm enjoying this build immensely. Nice work.

A while ago you mentioned something about balancing 35" tires. You know, it is never going to be perfect, but with those new radials (unless they are bias ply and I am wrong) you might try to balance them. Also, some guys run BB's or Golf Balls inside their tires as a way of balancing them, even with bias ply IROKs, people report "some" benefit from trying to get a tire balanced. My old truck was on 35 radial swampers with chunks missing out of the lugs and except for some scary-A** bumpsteer, they made for reasonable highway tires. All I'm saying, you might try balancing them. Just my .02

Also- I didn't catch if you had the lift sent back or not, but you can also take some leaves out if needs be, but you paid for it, so what's the point! Kudo's for not using lift-blocks. But I guess my past has biased me against certain means of lifting a truck.
