Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
Mini update, I just stayed up all night doing cad designing a new bed, decided not to build the welder trailer, I am going to wind up buying a new machine, a Lincoln Vantage 300 with the Kubota Diesel. This bed is designed around it.
more to come soon...

Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
i wonder if you can fit those smaller bottles on the side of that welder from wat i see theres room for it , the way you have placed them now you might hit them with the goodneck trailer if youre pulling that
maibe make a simple lift with an airbag between the cab and rearwheel behind a door on the side im thinking two rails made out of square tubing and a flat plate that lowers to sit flat on the ground it wuld take a lot of space you could use for a toolbox but you dont have to lift the bottles up ontoo the bed just bolt them to that rail raise the lift and lock it in place about halfway so the bottles dont stick out above the welder and close the door in front of it

i was thinking the same thing that the rear bottles needed some protection.

The reason I am not going to mount the bottles up with the other bottles is that I am not always going to be carrying oxygen in that rack, I may be carrying helium, argon, or a bottle of 75/25. If I am doing a job that requires a lot of mig or tig welding I do not want to have to move the acetalene out of the way every time I have to change a bottle. As well the lift is a great idea, but not nessesary, when you go to the welding house to get gas it is coming off of a loading dock, and they lower it down into your truck for you.

What are you using to cool the motor? Can you show the engine bay?

Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
i think if he uses an aluminium big block radiator and a huge electric fan he should be ok with the cummins

Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
say you wouldn't have a wiring diagram to make these cummins start and shut off. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
There wont be any updates for quite a while, I broke my back in a car accident this summer.
I got rear ended, got hurt really bad. Had to shut the shop down.

Re: The Boss 72 Chevy 4x4 Cummins Dually
A bit of an update, right now I am working on finding some shop space, also waiting on The VA to get my pay fixed. Hopefully soon I will be able to start making some progress on getting this truck built again.
I have really been jonsing to do something with it, and right now I am so close to being able to put it back together. I am still a long ways from the finish line, we will see how things stack up in the coming months. I did just put together an old jeep to drive, it is an 80 CJ7, put a 304 and NV4500 in it. Need to get it up and running first. Once I do I will be able to properly focus on the 72. I really want to hear that cummins roar again.
