Seriously, I have not read many of the posts but love looking at the pics. Are you basically spot welding with a mig and overlapping each previous weld by about 1/2?....or is it a tig? I've seen guys that can weld so good with a mig that it looks like a tig. There are not too many things more beachen than seeing any rig with those kinds of welds. Well done Mr. Greatest welder in the Universe!

Ah-ha!!! You are correct, its pulse welding or trigger welding with a mig. Its a cheating way to get a nice looking weld. Some people frown on it saying the penetration is not good enough, but I have never had a weld fail yet...... knock on wood!! If done right, its just as strong as a constant weld. Thanks for the compliment!

Here is a project I'm pretty proud of. Made my own header for a turbo LeCar. People were pretty impressed by the seemless look. They all say it looks like one continious pipe.....can barely tell it's even been welded on!!!!!

Thanks!! I am also on DR, same screen name there. This is the only build thread I have on the Blazer though. No progress, still kicking around the idea of selling it or trading for a nice 67-73 Camaro.

I for one would like to see you back working on it. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for my C-10 rebuild and I have my Jimmy back running. My future projects may just be trying to do things like a long arm suspension up front and a 3 or 4 link out back. I want to do more fabrication and less repair/restore. There are kits available from ORD and another place I have bookmarked, but they are asking several thousand for the kits. I've been thinking about doing a swap from a dodge or other coil sprung front straight axle rig, modifying it to work with the GM axle and frame, etc.

I'd like to try some tube work myself, maybe start with doing some cage work and move on from there to suspension. This build is one of the rare ones out there. If you find an old camaro, you won't have room to work on that either, might as well keep this one.

Its not that I dont want to finish it, I just wont be able to do anything with it for at least another year or more. I was hoping to find a decent trade that was not a project or $$ to get something else. I am not wanting to give this away what so ever, but if the right deal came along, I might just take it

As for LS motor mounts into a 4WD 67-72, I don't think anyone specifies between 2WD and 4WD. IIRC, people are having good success using CPP LS-into-67-72 motor mounts and Doug Thorley headers (324Y-C).

I am trying to keep it!!! I am hoping to have a shop help me with some of the larger items since I do not have the room to do certain things in my current garage, so......... here we are

After looking at some of the prices of the motor mounts, I think I might just stick with my modified stock cross member and stock LS motor mounts (pics posted a couple pages back).
