Re: Project Cod Fish
sheet metal is painted and at painters....... waiting on the fuel tank so I can plumb that in before sheetmetal goes on.... I ordered it from boyd and he said it may not ship till after new years...... this thing should come together pretty fast after that.

also a side note to anyone thinking of switching to a TB style from the truck ones, the mounting bracket is diffrent (but will mount to the engine with the same holes), and the electrical connector is diffrent as well. Last edited by 68 short step; 01-01-2010 at 09:23 PM. |

Re: Project Cod Fish
Nice build. I love the 5.3's. I'm pulling my 2005 5.3 which I had in my 96 S10 Blazer for over 2 years to put in my 68 C20. You did a great job of detailing your engine. Now i've got more work after seeing how nice yours came out with a little paint. Did you clear coat the intake or just clean and shine it. Looks real shiny in the pics. Great build and an inspiration to get moving alittle faster on mine. Thanks. Jim.

Re: Project Cod Fish
Rob, what trans mount did you use? My salvage yard 4L60 came with a rubber mount but it only has 1 stud. The pics I have seen of the ece trans crossmember show two holes
similar to the oem trans mount. Thank you. Last edited by 1971gmcshortbed; 01-13-2010 at 11:28 PM. Reason: spelling error |

Re: Project Cod Fish
I use the ECE mount and just drilled a new hole for the stud worked great and will be plenty strong.

Re: Project Cod Fish
Energy suspension's aftermarket poly transmission mount has options to do either the one hole or two (3 tapped holes in the bottom of it).

Re: Project Cod Fish
also a turbo 350,400, or 700r4 trans mount will bolt to the 4l60e trans, and it can be mounted to the crossmember useing the 2 holes... or drilling the crossmember for the single stud mount, is the other option...

Re: Project Cod Fish
Thanks Rob and Don for all the pics, I'm installing the same engine configuration but I was unsure as to how all the accessories looked and the belt routing. somebody took all mine off and I had to buy all new brackets, alternator, power steering pump and idler pulley. Mine is a 6.0 and they are the same architecture. Mine is going in next week.
Great build!! and I'll be watching to see this baby get rolling!

Re: Project Cod Fish
That color is going to look sharp. In think paint time is probably the nicest part of any build.
