Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

Looking at all these pictures just drives home why I like normal sized steel wheels so much.THESE ARE THE BEST LOOKING TRUCKS ON THE ROAD! Modern vehicles with their cookie-cutter looks need something to make them stand out. There was a time when just a wider wheel did that for these trucks. It's all they need.Puttin' hoops on these trucks is alright, but just not necessary.Like a pretty woman with too much make up.She looks better with less. It's about the truck, not the wheels.i just happen to like steel wheels best...always in style. Not to take away from the classic alloy customs from the era that look so great as well. It's either subdued and classy (steel) or hot and nasty (mags)

Amen, brother. It really is a testament to how well our trucks were desigend that they can look good with anything from some classic steelies on up to 20" chromeys w/ rubberbands wrapped around them.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

OK guys. I made the PO of my truck throw in some steel wheels when I bought my truck from him.

They are 16x7.5 wheels. They are 8-lug, but I'm not sure if they will fit.

IF these are wheels that fit the truck, how do I know if I can use hubcaps on these wheels, and what size tires are recommended for a close to stock look for a 7.5 inch wheel?

1st choice satin black, 2nd red. Tan would be to 'street rodder-ish' for a red, 60's truck IMO.

Re: Whose on Steelies? Post 'em up!

My 68 has had the same wheels for 20 years-- first picture. The truck has looked a like for 20 years and I was wanting something different. I just changed my truck to 5 lug and put steel wheels on it. A guy I know suggested the Orange and then he painted the original hub caps black and silver as original and then put a orange bowtie with maroon outline to match the truck. What do you think? Sorry for the pictures but this is all I have for now.

Looks good Todd-nice to see something different! I see you have the same problem I have-I keep forgetting to tell the guys to put the wheel weights on the inside of the rim! hehe

Here's mine. I wish I knew what kind they were. I kinda Like them. Only seen them on a few other trucks.

I wish they were wider too. But all this wishing makes me think, "Wish in one hand and...."
