Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
And they are installed, sway bar end link shortened, and all back together in a weekend. I just need to find some air! My air compressor took a sh$& a few weeks ago.

Wow, that's low! I predict a lot of calls from the FL DMV looking for all the road reflectors you're going to scrape up!!

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
I am not familiar with bags at all, How do you keep from wearing out front tires with bags. Do you have the truck aligned with a certain air pressure? Thanks Rich

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Chuck, that's pretty funny! I'm hoping to NOT drive it that low! Once I get the back done, I think he stance will be killer when it's aired out in a parking lot or show and still get it high enough for a worry free daily driver. But the ride might be a little stiffer since the bags will have a lot of psi to get the height.
Bald eagle, i have been following your build and your truck turned out greet. Good Job on the interior and being creative. I am no expert, but I have done a lot of research on bags. You are correct, you set the truck up where you want the height when you drive it. Then get the alignment. When the truck is at that height it will be aligned. Can't go by psi for accuracy, because it changes with fuel load, passengers, cargo, etc... But most say it's fine for daily driver to use psi as a reference around town. If your carrying a heavy load for a distance I would make sure it's at the same settings when aligned. They do have really expensive ride height controllers that will control your trucks bags by itself based on ride height which is sweet but $$$.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
Well I got a 12v compressor today and made some crude fittings to get it off the ground. And problem solved! No tire rubbing and plenty of clearance!! I even took it around the block a few times. And I can still lay it on the frame for shows.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
And I even got my new headlights in. They are the conversion that takes a modern replaceable halogen bulb. They fit perfectly.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
How much did you set your clip forward from stock?
Where was it rubbing? In the front of the wheelwell? What is the offset on your wheels? I added 3/4" to my wheelbase and only rub at full turn with 22x9"s. |

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
I went 2" forward because I liked the way it looks with the wheel when it's slammed. The wheels did bit rub on the forward part, it was the top fender lip rubbing. I have 17x 7 with 4.25 back spacing. Wheels just clear the tierod end on the inner and now with bags the wheel turns fine.
I was saying mine rubbed when it was a static drop. I assume you at least got bags or something to be able to drive with 22's!

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck
I lowered the rear a little bit more last night, cutout the metal hack job bed floor and set the bed back on the truck!
