Re: Jans 53
I love love LOVE burgundies and maroons. especially interiors but that boyd ford is awesome too.
I like the color you laid down, if it pink-ens (while you chew, sorry, futurama) I dont even think that would look bad but you could always scotchbrite the chalk off.

Re: Jans 53
If you want a satin look use a base color of your choice.
Then Top coat it with POR matte clear. It doesn't get shiny spots from rubbing and is super durable. I used it on my firewall and inner fenders. Mark

Man, I wish I were that far along. Every time I get a step ahead another home project springs up.
Looks really good. What primer are you using? The pic looks glossy. Still wet? |

Re: Jans 53
I used proform because it is readily available locally. It is quite a flat grey.

They look like 2 different colors but they're not. One is outside is all.

Thanks Canuck you’re right, I like seeing what everyone has accomplished every day no matter how big or small. I love when someone starts painting or has first start up or drive.

Re: Jans 53
Nice work! I'm also a fan of SPI.
I'm hoping to accomplish all three of those in the next couple months...

Re: Jans 53
Finished the roof of the cab this weekend. I need to go buy me some polycarbonate to cut up for some finishing sanding blocks. Haven’t started the hood yet but the bed and fenders are also ready to be wet sanded.
Gotta have a picture or it never happened

Re: Jans 53
what I find works pretty well for block sanding to get a straight surface is a piece of smooth plywood cut a bit shorter than the sandpaper size. I wrap the paper over the ends and staple the sand paper on the back side. I use the long board style paper. could also use the regular sized sheets with wet and dry paper just cut into narrower strips and cut the plywood shorter. I also find the rubber blocks work great for wet sanding too.
