Sounds like a nice build Brownsville, like the being able to drive it part, not much for shiny paint on my end. Good thought on the rake too.

Truck looks so good, so why not the c10 chassis again.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
First, the width. I had no idea how much work it was to shorten up the track on a vehicle. Bought high offset wheels, widened the fenders, brought in the control arms, an it just BARELY fits without rubbing while turning.
Second, rigidity. Unless you're gonna box it all. I have extra support cross bracing and it still twists easily. I can see it in the box when I jack up a corner. Finally, the frame of the c10 has a drastic dip for the cabs, in 1984 anyway, then you have to pick your poison, to change it so its all on the same plane, or mount the cab in the dip and fab the front and rear body panels to accept the higher frame. In the end, I welded the center section of the 54 with the cab mounts into the center of the 84 frame. It was a pain. Thinking the s10 would have been the way to go. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
A lot more of a challenge than I thought, well you sure outdid yourself, nice job, but can see why it may be easier with the S truck chassis, a lot sure use them.

Lower50's, it's a 1950 GMC FC453 3 ton truck with 270 ci inline 6 with "H" head, bigger ports and valves, and Clark 5 speed manual, no overdrive. Runs great on GM TBI fuel injection. Will do 60 on flat ground. LOL.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here is mine. 1957 Chevy mostly restored. Just needs a lot of TLC.
Crap. Pictures won't load. I'll try again later. Something about a security token...

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks. It is about 80% done. I have some major and minor projects for it. So many are related. I want to do some big brakes all around. That means new wheels and tires. I want to dynamat the inside and new carpet, steering column and wheel. I need to do a full A/C install. The list just gets bigger every time I look at the other nice trucks on this site. So much to do and so little money!

Cool truck, I don't see very many fleet trucks out there. I like how GmC used the Chevy dash and no frills mesh grille. What plans does your son have for this truck? Restore? |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks. Had to bail on a 55.1 pickup that I was building, in favor to cart around my new set of twins. We found this one pretty much as you see it. Monte front clip, 454/turbo400, PS,PB,AC,PW. Plan to convert back to sliding windows, get rid of that 300zx hood scoop and touch up a bit. Plans to change the interior as well. Rides awesome.
