Re: Die-cast 67-72

I got one the other day.I`ve never seen so many Treasure Hunts available.
Thanks Paul,I passed on that open Road kit because it was built.Just holding out.I recently bought the`69 MPC Fleetside that is a Fire Truck on the box.I have the 68,69,70,71,and 72 kits. So,I also need an MPC`67 kit.The`68 is a psychedelic wrecker on box,`69 is the fire truck,`70 is a NHRA support pickup,`71 is the "Racer`s Wedge",and`72 is a wrecker with "TRW" lettering. It sure is addicting once you realize you could possibly end up with one of each.I`ve been casually collecting for many years...Interested,yet not going out of my way to buy anything.Once I set up a display it`s like a game or puzzle to fill in all the blanks.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Is that white paint on the front wheel arch outside of the flames or a glare?I noticed this and looked at mine and the white is inside the lines.

I'm at work again tonight and didn't see this post until now. I'll look tomorrow but they are hotwheels. Hotwheels are not know for the details on the cars.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I just received my three in the mail. One of them has the white outside of the flame lines (like Andy's appears to appear) and the other two don't. HW painting is marginal at best anyway.

I saw a variation which did not have all of the flames on the side. Only two closest to the bottom and a white ring over the wheel well. Actually looked pretty cool.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I just received a pair of the THs today. One Super and one Regular, both on short cards. They both have the white paint outside the flame line. I have some other Regulars and they all have the white inside the lines. If you look at all of the earlier 69s; especially with the chrome grills/bottoms, you'll notice that nearly every one of them has some kind of defect.
I've got a Regular TH that has the Super paint but has the Regular wheels and is mounted on a Regular card.

I kinda like how Hot Wheels are still toys made to be played with and we just collect them.Others may be more accurate and realistic, but these are just cool toys for under a buck.

Ill have to take more pics, cause now there are new truck parts in here, guaranteed not to get ding or anything...lol

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I started posting some pics of the toys, diecast etc. here on the board. I will keep adding them for a reference to what is available. I have more pics, but need some time to get them posted. It may be helpful. I'll get the jadas, and johnny lightnings, von dutch, and other metal ones, then I can add the plastic models and blazers, etc. It's kind of cool because if you click on the picture I have some notes on each one, which I think can be edited.

Let me know if the link doesn't work.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I added a bunch more pictures to the gallery. Figure about 75 total trucks to collect, not including plastic models, which I am starting to get pics together of. If I am missing anything, please let me know and if you have a picture of it, post here and I'll add it to the gallery. The only ones I know I don't have posted are other versions of the Danbury Mint trucks and the various colors of the 1/24 scale jada dub city trucks, and possibly some more spec cast versions of the 67 chevy truck.

That tire is actually from a Dale Earnhardt car, it come with a certificate stating this, I purchased it in 2000 for 250.00 CDN, back then our dollar was worth about 60 cents to your dollar. I ordered it from the Nascar Illustrated magazine in the classified section.

I bought a set from him a couple of weeks ago.
I took the truck out for my collection. I think I'll eventually resell the remainder of the set on ebay, without cars; try and recoup some of the money.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

$40 is too steep for my blood.

I was able to score a HW five pack with the purple/69 tampo and one with the yellow/flames. My list is getting shorter. Unfortunately, somewhere I picked up this idea that I had to have two of everything - one open & one packaged (damn you Robert ).

We don't have a toys-r-us here anymore, it closed over a year ago. I've checked all the other local stores.
