Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
Jerry, the green stuff is Evercoat "Everglass" with kevlar fibers in it. Great bonding properties and only used to build areas up. The light green (might look yellow) is Keystone brand Premium Plus Gold lightweight filler. Both are excellent products and there should be a Keystone store near you where you can source them and all of your other bodywork needs.

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
I'm sure it's way too late to ask, but I've just come to this thread. Any pics or info on the temporary bracing you used to hold the cab together while replacing the floor and firewall? I'm eager to learn as much as possible to minimize the chances of further destroying a cab already in need of serious help. Thanks!
Great project and dedication, BTW. I was born and raised in Waterloo and thus spent a fair amount of time in Cedar Falls. Brent

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
Thanks, Jon. Read the whole thread and didn't see the pics of the bracing I was hoping for, but I'll check out the site you mentioned as soon as possible. Thanks again!

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
ok...just learned something new to me. The top of the windshield frame is different in '67-'68 than it is in '69-'72. The piece that bridges the "A" posts on our '68 has two step downs from the top to the lip and our '70 has a single, much larger, step. I wonder if this is why some people have such fits with the windshield molding with the chrome?

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
I noticed that before but didn't know what year the differences were. It looks like there is a transistion in the A pillar. There are pics at the bottom of the first page in this thread.

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
nice gas tank... and mud... so does the Kevlar make it bullet proof if you add enough?
I won't jack a thread to entertain a feeble mind...I mean a Marine ok, so I will what do you call a boat with 1,000 Sailors and 1,000 Marines....? 1000 happy couples!

Oh no, this thread could become the battle of the Armed Forces, but we all know who they send in first

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"
We welded (I watched...I gotta be honest) in the seam at the junction of the top of the "A" and the roof. Then added metal to the drip rail to try to match the fronts to the sides....still a lot of work to do there.
We've got 22 hours in body work on the firewall and it's not done....started third coats last night but it's looking great. |
