Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Wow hadn't realized that it had been November since I last posted. No paint yet unfortunately. Haven't really been able to work on it due to the weather and such. I've currently been thinking about what it would require to make it 4wd. But anyways here are those pics i promised way back when of the bedside being finished.

Thats all for now haha.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Well I did have plans to fix a few small spots, spray some rocker guard on my steps on the bed and spray a little bit of primer, but I've not had time to do anything yet. And of course they're calling for rain this weekend so who knows haha.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Good grief I didnt realize that it had been this long since i posted anything, well stuff's finally getting done. I bought a new cab from billsbowtie the other day and for the past two days I have been doing body work on it. It didnt need alot, the floor and supports were perfect, thats where my original cab had its problems. The Interior is getting painted the exact same color as the exterior which means ans soon as I get the wiring from the old cab swapped into it and get it on the truck the whole thing is goin to paint finally. Here's some pics of the progress as it sits

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Oh and the cab was perfect but I did find one surprise that was hidden by undercoating and I cant figure out why it was done maybe someone can figure it out??

Heres where the heater box mounts on the firewall non AC Why are the holes welded up, and half of the bigger hole?

And on the inside you can see the plate welded in. . .

I have no clue. .

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Looks good. Before replacing the hinges try just greasing them up and working them up and down. Or...on the side it's up in the back....loosen the bolts that hold it to the fender then lift it as high as you can on that front corner and have someone tighten them for you.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Well its back to just needing paint now, well that and the exhaust finished and some brake work. Got it all put back together and the interior painted on the new cab. New bumpers, grille painted, all primed on the outside. Finally found a tailgate, it needs the most bodywork of anything on the truck haha but it was a score for 20 bucks. Id like to find a seat that has the seatbelts already integrated into them. Heres a couple pics to get you updated.
