Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

A little update on mine, I mounted up my Intros today and set the frame down for the first time. It is sitting on the tranny pan in this pic. I have a deep pan, going to have to go back to a stock pan.

I can see if I can get some specs. It's being built by a local builder, mainly known for custom bikes... Jesse Rooke.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Quick question, When I lay frame how far will the body be from the ground? will I need a body drop kit to lay it on the ground also? I know PB makes the kit, just planning ahead so I can get it all done at once when I have the body off for paint.

The bottom edge of the frame sets approx. 3/4" below the pinch weld. There will be some variance depending on age of the body mount bushings.

If you want the pinch weld on the ground a body drop is in your future.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Another quick dumb question, Will the tubular trailing arm crossmember accept the factory trailing arms, until I can afford to get the PB Trailing arms (3" drop)?

Sounds like a legitimate question to me.....

Answer is yes. The factory trailing arms will bolt right into our trailing arm crossmember.

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

Random question, how are you guys keeping framing scratching your frame up when you air out? Are you mounting some sort of stop on the bottom of your frame rails? I'm going to be running the extreme dropmembers on mine so just curious. Thanks

Re: Porterbuilt Dropmember

ok one more question, If I order the adj trac bar and later order the 3" drop trailing arms will the lower end of the trac bar mount directly to the trailing arm or will I have to use the lower bracket / modify the trailing arms or bracket.

There are a few ways to do it. You can make a bumpstop system that will actually keep the frame from touching the ground. Easiest way to do this is to make a spacer that bolts between the bag and lower control arm. Make it tall enough to where the bag acts as a bumpstop and keeps the truck from bottoming out. This will also be a safety in case of air system or bag failure while driving.

The adjustable track bar has a different length panhard bar than what is used when running the tubular trailing arms. If you are planning on buying tubular arms, it is best to purchase them the same time as the trac bar.
