Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
For myself the motivation behind not using factory parts is just that I wouldn't have to try to find them and cut them off another frame. I can just click the order now button and be done. So it's a few extra bucks for the sake of convenience. I have thought of using all factory parts for a more factory look but several things keep me from wanting to do that. First off, the area where the shackle hanger is is different between the 2wd and 4wd so I'll have to trim that area. And I want to do crossover steering which doesn't fit well with a factory crossmemeber.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Coming back to catch up on your thread and noticed that the reflections in your buffed out paint job are much crisper than mine. You probably did a better paint job to start with, but could you tell us what grits you sanded (cut) with?

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Looks better in pics than in real life! But, I ended up doing the whole 1000, 1500, 2000 routine. Ended up really not taking too long. Then I used maguires 105 on a wool harbor freight buff pad on my harbor freight buffer.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
I'm at both an exciting point and bummer point with my build. It's exciting cause I can start driving it and using it as a truck again! But a bummer cause I have to put it on a hard hold until my kitchen remodel is done... Once I get back to it I'll be re doing the interior first off and then doing the 4x4 swap.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Well, looking forward to those jobs on the truck should motivate you to get through the kitchen rebuild and hopefully not let the little details drag out. Looking forward to seeing your next projects.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Wheels look very good on there. Trim is going to tie it all together - can't wait to see it!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Thanks fellas! Just trying to get through my insane honey do list so I can get back to it! I have done virtually nothing to it since freaking Christmas!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Wheels look good! You going to run those with the 4x4 conversion with some taller tires? Those wheels are only 6.5 inches wide, but woul be perfect for some 9.00x16's.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
If things work out the way I think they will, I'll be ordering up the Fitech fuel injection next week. Seems like a pretty good setup!
http://fitechefi.com/default.asp.pg-GoEFI4 Also, just as an FYI, I have started a little (very little) side business and have started working on a website. If you want to check it out and tell me what you think that would be cool! It's at, http://gisiautoandfab.com/

I am also interested in seeing how the FITECH system works for you. It was tempting me pretty bad earlier in the spring when Summit had it on sale.
