Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
Spare tire is mounted in the bed securely. I got the bracket on Amazon for $29 (Rigid Hitch in-Bed Spare Tire Bracket (RHTC-35L)). I only had to modify it slightly and buy a longer carriage bolt because of the big tire.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
Yikes! The AC belt stretched a little after a drive across town and it started cutting into the lower radiator hose. I tightened up the belt and pulled the hose down with a zip tie for better clearance. I should probably replace the hose soon. Worth noting that the longer the belt, the closer it gets to that lower radiator hose.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
We shall see if this vacuum reservoir helps any with my crummy brakes. I'm too tired to even test drive it around the block tonight.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
I figured out why the truck would start in any gear and the backup lights didn't work: busted neutral safety switch. Fixed!

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
I was skeptical about the vacuum reservoir, and it did not really make any noticeable difference. I think it is an adjustment of the linkage or a bad vacuum booster, but I can't get any shop to work on it.
I hate brakes. Such a simple system, yet I always have problems. |

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
The brakes on mine are hard as a rock, also tried a vac canister, no difference. Have a new booster on order with Pickmup, will let you know how that works.

The best way I can describe it: It has functioning power brakes for most of the pedal, but feels like manual brakes at the bottom. It takes a lot of foot to make a complete stop, and there is no way to make a sudden emergency stop. They feel even less safe going downhill. I cannot lock up the tires no matter what. |

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
I adjusted my headlights tonight. I should have taken a before picture. The passenger side was pointed at the ground instead of my fence. The bulbs don't match so the driver side is a little brighter, but at least they aim the same way now.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
Seriously, please, i have a similar booster. all you have to do is pop the master off. You'll see a small stub in the booster hole that should have a hex shaft. That's adjustable. It actually pushes the master's shaft. You should feel it make contact juuuuuust before the master bottoms out on the booster, but you should feel it. Look up master cylinder/booster engagement. They make a tool, but I just did it by feel. I had mine way too far engaged, and the fronts would lock themselves in a couple of miles. I got it all set right, much better now.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
My new Summit ram's horn manifolds (2.5" collector) showed up the other day, and the Calyx manifold dressing showed up today. I have an appointment with the exhaust shop on Wednesday for new 2.25" pipes and 18" Magnaflow mufflers.

Re: '72 Cheyenne K10
Just got the truck back from the exhaust shop. It is fairly quiet at idle and has a healthy growl when you give it gas. I'm pleased overall. I asked for the pipes to come out at a 45 (not a 90), but it still looks good.
