Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I drove half way across the state of Georgia today to look at and buy a pair or nice 72 doors .They turned out to be 71 doors but they were so nice I brought them home with me ,no speaker holes cut and No Rust .The price was not too bad either .I now have 69, the original somewhat rusty 72 doors and now 71 doors .The body shop can decide which ones they want to use as it does not matter to me. They also have 3 fleetside tailgates to chose from .I'll know soon which parts they will use and which they will put on Craigslist . I only need one more used item for the build and Im on the hunt for it .

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

It's a Diamont brand charcoal metallic. I wanted a bit of metallic this time around because I found the stock charcoal was not really tied in to the metallic silver. I'll try and dig up the color code tomm.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Pumped up the front pass side tire, and started my 82 shortbed for the first time in 8 months. Required a new battery, a can of seafoam in the gas tank and a few drops of gas down the carb. Drove it around for a bit to get the fluids flowing, topped off the fluids, and sent in for my new tags. Mine died at the end of march. Should get tags by the end of the week and then c10 season begins for me.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I am very close to driving my '64 again! All I have to do is drop the distributor, set the valves, and fill it up with gas! I got aggravated at my truck last Summer after a head cracked, and it has been parked since then. Just in time for near $4 gallon premium!!!!

Stopped by the painters and got pics of the doors in primer ready for paint. He did the insides as well as the backside of the door panels he believes in doing things as best as possible - No Short Cuts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Picked up a new seat today. This isn't exactly the style of upholstery I want forever, but temporarily, it'll do the job. My seat was horrible--no padding at all. I sat on a kitchen chair cushion just to be able to tolerate it. Plus, although the top was original, I'm pretty sure the bottom had been recovered 100-years ago.

So I picked up this on Craigslist for $75. It's really pretty nice--plus the color makes me think it was meant to be. I mean, how many seats are you going to find that are exactly the same color as this truck 30 miles away from home?

Eight bolts later, and we're sittin' pretty!

What power steering brackets did you use, or even some close up pictures? I got a set for the 67-72 truck but they stick out too far and the pump sits right on my steering box. I have a camaro clip on my truck so the motor sits lower in the frame (or atleast it looks like this, also steering box is on inside of frame)
Nice looking motor those valve covers are sharp as hell.

Boy, ain't that the truth! I actually feel like a grownup in it now. Before, I sunk down in the seat so far I felt like Edith Ann in the giant rocking chair.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The smoothness of my throttle linkage has been progressively deteriorating to the point I was reluctantly considering removing my Cal Custom gas pedal and going with a completely different setup. After a lot of careful study and complete disassembly I finally determined the problem was in the linkage between the firewall and the carburetor. After trimming away part of the cruise control bracket for clearance and making a few other modifications it’s now working perfectly. Not very exciting but sure makes the truck more enjoyable to drive.

Pulled the seat and temporary seat belts out.Fixed the holy passenger side floor board.Por15 the whole floorpan and firewall.remounted the steering column.Used the home depot sound deadner thoughout the truck and installed the firewall insulator.Installed the new 3 point seat belts and got a quote on the seat.Had a new exhaust system installed last week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

well , I needed to work on my DD a '97 Silverado 2500 ... I have been opening the drivers side door by running the window down , then reaching outside for the handle ,then running the window back up... I got the latch and inner door handle , (the 3rd one in 2 years) from another member here and finally had a chance to install them , plus a new outer door handle.. took less time than I thought and it all works perfect now ...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Picked up two left doors free today for patch panels where the first owner cut the doors for speakers, this will be this summer project and gas tank in the rear so I can move on with the build.

Those cheap pot metal inner door handles suck. I have replaced the driver handle twice on my friends C1500 and guess what, it's broken again.
