Re: Got a new truck
Well, I got the truck lifted and ended up having not enough working angle so no point in spending money on it just to get 4linked in a little. So we are hopefully bringing the truck home tomorrow.
We are ordering the steering monday, they close at 3 or 4 our time. I will linking it at my house so I will get more pics. Thats the donor truck behind it.

Re: Got a new truck
ok dude.. i am apparently a few months behind on this..
so i caught up GOOD WORK.. some of the welds look a little piled on on the cage.. (but im not a pro that' just my opinion) but over all that's a pretty cool build.. youve gained a BUTT LOAD of expereince during this build.. so... what do you actually do? like for money?... if it's not our business so be it.. but i was just kinda wondering how a kiddo can build something like this so much.... with so many parts... either way it's a bad ass build... period.. pretty dang cool

Re: Got a new truck
I agree on the welds being piled, mainly on the plate in the back and the one hoop, but should be fine I haven't found any cracking, and I believe it will hold up in a flop.
Truefully I just help my dad at work on weekends, and the weekend side jobs we do pays for the truck, for instance today I made a 100 which will go to the brakes for the 70s. The tires free, the rear shock a christmas present from my great grand parents, the donor trucks , and the engine I have in it now were free. The donor truck in the background has halftons, power steering box, front clip, doors and the windsheild. We know someone who wants to buy the axles, and power steering box, and we are going to use the clip, doors, and windshield on this. And I think most people think we have more money into it than we do.

Re: Got a new truck
Well today I was hoping my dad would pick up the brakes for the d70s but it didn't happen so, tomrrow night we will be putting them on. And I am unsure if I want to take off the front clip now while its at my uncle shop or when I get it home, just in case We get a driveline and take it out wheeling.
We ordered the steering and don't know how long it will be before it comes in. So that is another reason I don't want to take it apart. So right now I'm up in the air. But i'm leaning to taking it apart tomorrow and seeing about where I can put the battery. MAybe where the ac box is?

Re: Got a new truck
Full hydro, double end ram from psc. I have read but don't no if its true that with single ram full hdryos that they move slower to one side. And double ended ram seems easier to set up.

Re: Got a new truck
Well I got the truck home and the donors cab, and front clip home. I may start tring to build the 4 door cab. Just planning but as soon as we get another cab then we are going to get into it.
We found the we need to swap the carb because the pin holding the floats is holding the secondarys open.

Re: Got a new truck
Well haven't swapped the carb, but have taken the front clip off and axle out. We got the knuckles off the dana 70 to swap them to the opposite sides.
We are pushing the axle up a few inches, still unknown how much. We are well underway to fourlinking the front. We are still planning to build 4seater. But need some money still.

Re: Got a new truck
Where it sits till we get some 2x4 tubing, for the front truss.
The front axle as it sits, we need the seal that goes on the back of the knuckle. We hope by swapping the knuckle it saves us the need of getting hi-steer arms. When I build the 4 seater I was thinking of running this style lower lnks so I could get more travel from the rear shocks anyone see I problem with it?

Re: Got a new truck
Well hopefully this weekend we will accomplish a lot. We didn't work on it, but we picked up the drums and found out the steering should be here Tuesday.
We most likely won't be able to test it till the 1st, because we should finish it approx next weekend then the weekend after hollister is closed. So we aren't rushing to get it done, so hopefully it will come out good.

Re: Got a new truck
The second update, this is a step back and forward at the same thime. We are going to lower the top of the cage a few inches, but leave about 6 inches for headroom if we roll. It has over about a foot maybe more. This wll allow us to park it in the garage, and make me feel a little safer.

Re: Got a new truck
Well, We are going to boat side this. I started cutting the cage with the saw-saw But gave up, and am waitting till we get a grinder here. The top on of the boat side will be right above the body line, but aren't sure.
The steering came in and the ram is huge. So hopefully some progress tomorrow.

Re: Got a new truck
Well I have been having pain in the knee for a while, but it has gotten a lot worse and the therapist thinks it might be a torn menicus. And the pain has gotten so bad that it is hard to work or walk much. So the updates might be slow but hopefully not.
For now the beginning of the boat sides. Well some cutting. And the steering ram

Re: Got a new truck
Well tomorrow me and my dad are going to try and set the links up on the front end. It will mostly be my dad working and me do a little helping. If are able to get the steel for the boat side we will start on the cage a little.
