If memory serves right it was scrapped. He wanted 2k for the frame n body but I didn't have the cash to save it. I tried talking g him down for just the cab even but a no go. Really made me depressed. I believe it was red n black 2 tone.

Re: Square body extended cabs

Looking around and found this CL post.
Cab and frame only - http://wheeling.craigslist.org/pts/4798527713.html

I've never heard of these trucks before I saw this CL and thought it was a joke - good thing for this posting other wise I would never have believed the listing.
Thanks everyone for the good information.

Re: Square body extended cabs

Has anyone besides the conversion companies that originally built the extended cab square bodies built one, and is there any pictures or a write on how it was done? I've had thoughts on making my C20 an extended cab but would want to keep the 8 foot box.

Thanks, Eric

rare86: I like this thread and would like to know any information you have on tra-tech corporation. I have a 78 GMC K35 I know it's not an extended cab but like your 86 it has "THE BOSS" badges on it. I am curious what these badges meant and why they were used. The only thing I can think of is both these trucks are the 1 ton so maybe they were used on 1 ton only trucks. Here are some pictures for you. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Looking at the pictures the truck has regular c/k20 front wheels. I'm thinking maybe the company converted it to a dually?

Small world. I bought some pristine blue buckets from the guy that has that yellow x-cab in Indiana late fall. I looked at it but at 3:00 am, I was ready to head back home. Cool truck, really nice guy!

Re: Square body extended cabs

Anyone thought about cutting a crew cab down to make an extended cab? You could possibly, with some extra work, have rear doors on it.

Re: Square body extended cabs

Like the suicide doors too! You could add enough extra to allow a rear seat like the ones in 88-98 extended cabs.

Re: Square body extended cabs

I know of a shop in Minnesota that did this conversion. Used to visit it often. The truck they built was called the Longhorn by CVI. Maybe the name is territorial. I think they might still have some jump seats and windows. I do still have a brochure on them.

Re: Square body extended cabs

I always liked this one. It was made by a local body guy. It was a 76 long fleet and short step combined. I thought about getting it from him, but it went underwater during Katrina and it really messed it up bad on the internal structures.

He and the truck are long gone now. I know he moved to Florida about a year after Katrina. Not sure who ended up with the truck, Sure wish I had the money back then for it.
