Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Rude dude, I had planned on mounting the 88 seat to the 59 tracks. It kept the seat right under the window. However, I felt that the newer tracks were better built and stronger. So I cut them to match the 59 tracks. I welded some plate under them so they can be bolted down.
disturbinglykool, Thanks for the info on his truck. It's one of my many favorits.

Do you have a picture, I am confused. I want to mount my seat to original holes so I am going to figure that portion next. Thanks

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Getting the shift indicator to match the gear you are in is a matter of length of arm at bottom of shifter and length of arm on trans. I found in my research for my cable set up they have to be the same length. You can check your column application by measureing the sweep of the arm from low to park at the column, then the same on the trans arm. If the arm on the trans is longer than the column you will got be able to get into low and/or park. If it is too short in relation to the column the shifter detents and reading on the indicator will be off (shorter sweep). I do not know if the after market columns have detents like the factory ones or if they rely on the detents in the transmission to keep things in gear. Can't help with the dogs name, kids always named the animals in my family except for one lab that was given to me as a Christmas present.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Dan, my wife & son called her "Big Mama", The name stuck. I guess it doesn't really matter what her name is because she's deaf. She had an allergic reaction to a flea collar or flea powder as a puppy, and she lost all hearing in her right ear and about 90% in the left. I truly feel her pain. I'm deaf in one ear and can't hear out the other...haha
Thanks Patrick, I knew you come through for me. It really make sense now. I'll have to take some measurement and get it where I need it. Thanks again for the help.

I recently adopted a little dog that must have had a litter in the past year or two cause he kinda hung low. I had her fixed of course and bit by bit her nipples have shrunk so she looks normal now. BUT for a long time they showed and we noticed she had only 9! We thought they were suppsoed to be an even number so we took to calling her, "Nine T!tty". She answers to it now. Its kinda vulgar but its hilarious. We've gotten use to it but you oughta see people's reaction when we forget and call her that in public. ![]() PM about your steering wheel coming. |

Dan, Nine T!tty has got to be the funniest name I've ever heard. I'd pay money to see you walk down the street calling for your dog...hahaha

I hope she was making noises and bouncing up and down, it makes it more fun and realistic, by the looks of the pics I am sure she was.
How is the gmc treating you?

The GMC is still running. I start it up at least one a month and keep a charger hooked to the battery. I don't drive it as much anymore. I think I've put about 10 miles on it this summer. I checked out your store. I'm gonna have to do some ordering soon!

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Yeah I hear you, I don't actually get to drive my truck that often either. but I live two hours away from it as well. I have some GMC type shirts I will be doing at some point. I got tons of others as well. I just put those ones up for now. I also got my coffee rolling, but been slacking on my website. It's hard to keep up with the technology if you don't deal with it everyday. So once I get back in the groove, I'm hoping to have the site a lot better. I'll surely hook you up and if you wanna wait till I get a gmc shirt goin that's cool too. Can't wait to see the 59 done.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Sarge, Very cool pictures of your wife having fun. She's a good sport to get in there and not look at old trucks like they're bugs! My ex did...hence..... ha ha.
Kidding (kinda) Yup, 9 T!tty is a cool little dog. If you call her by her real name; Bella, she comes eventually. If you bellow out, "Nine T!tty" she comes a running - I don't know why. |

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
I'm confused, are you changing to single headlights or putting two per side?

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
I had a spare set of 53 bezals. My wife wants them on her truck. So some how, some way. I have to try and make them fit. I've been thinking about mounting them sideways. With the light on the outboard side and the small end inboard. Maybe a 45 or 90 degree tube running behind the small hole in the bezal through the inner fenders to the engine. Any thoughts or idea's are highly welcome.
I don't like the idea of matching headlight on two different year/body style trucks in my garage. But...she thinks it would look "cute!"

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
You could mount it like you said and get a smaller high beam headlight from a newer car for the smaller hole. Something like the one in the middle here:

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Well, my wife and I drove the 59 yesterday. It was just to the end of my cul-de-sac and back. It's just a cab, seat & frame. I almost lost the wife on the second or third doughnut we did. She said she won't ride in it till there's doors....women!

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Tie a rope to the seat frame and play mechanical bull! I was going to do the same with mine but decided to wait until spring so I don't have to worry about it freezing up and the gas gumming up everything.

Re: SGTUSMC '59 build
Kabwe, I'm still messed up. But, getting the truck running & driving has motivated me enough to get out there and try and finish her up. My son and I played hotrod in our neighborhood.
OrrieG, I was checking out your build again. That sheet metal is really looking nice. I hope to have mine at least in primer before summer. It won't be to hard I'm leaving most of the dent's. I like the idea with the HID light in the Buick bezals. I'm not a 100% sure I like the idea of adding the buick bezals into the build. I just hope the wife won't notice there not there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
