Before drop spindles, I had bags, factory upper control arms, and like some old school recessed spring lower control arms the p.o. put on. they are basically like cupped lower control arms. (I later modified these) so it sits about an inch lower than factory setup w/bags.

The position/location of the motor doesn't move at all. The motor mounts attach to the upper face of the crossmember. Think of it like this, the section that is cut out stays bolted to the frame in factory position, and you move the entire suspension upwards around the cut out piece 1.25 inches, then weld back in place.

Its really hard for me to explain, unless you're just looking at it. I'm a very visual person(thus my picture-loaded thread) But all in all, the only thing that is in a new spot afterwards is the suspension and steering moved up 1.25".

Re: maxxy's 81 bagged c10 build

Its been like 20 degrees outside in oklahoma the past couple days, and in a unheated barn, its pretty hard to get much work done. I did some research, and found out that the $80 4"x2"x1" air ride switch boxes, are the exact same as $3.85 "project boxes" from radio shack. I built one a tad bit bigger.

$3.85 "project boxes" from radio shack? are those momentary on/off switches? what does the $3.85 box from radio shack look like? i assume that the one your holding is the final product you built....

Re: maxxy's 81 bagged c10 build

Thanks man. That is the one I built.
I spent like $4 dollars and some change on that box, because it was slightly bigger than the 4x2x1. It comes in a blank box http://m.radioshack.com/radioshack/c...do?cid=1092675 . I already had the momentary switches.

Re: maxxy's 81 bagged c10 build

I finally brought my motor home from my dads shop. I've been slowly working on it.
I figured its be more motivation to get it in if I have to look at it everyday.

Not soon enough! It'll probably be mid summer, I go back to college next week and the truck wont get any action until then.

Pieced together a serpentine belt setup, now I'm looking for a local place to powder coat the pulleys for me.

Lots of little things coming together. The piddly parts really start to add up!

Hung my inner fenders and made a new battery bracket today. Theres a little surface rust lol.
