This is the engine in our 66 GMC short bed. 250 six offenhauser intake & valve cover - hedman hedder. powerglide trans.

engine in my 63 4x4 suburban. When I bought the truck, there was no motor and no front clip, but the truck was originally a V8. This is a 4-bolt 350 but is dressed to look as much like a 283 as possible. Uses a 1967 spread-bore 4 barrel intake with the correct-for-the-truck oil filler, (I added a PCV valve in the original 283 "script" valve cover, and added the bracket from the 350 for the dipstick) I used all the front accessories from a period correct 283, (short water pump, original PS pump, all original pulleys.) Also used correct original exhaust manifolds. Still need to find an original type air filter with a 4-barrel base. I know that the motor SHOULD be gray, but I went for the Chevy orange anyway. Where I come from, Chevy V8's are ORANGE! The truck was a factory 4-speed, but I replaced it with a 3-speed manual with overdrive, and column shift.

Hey 64 truck. Howd you set up that 2x1 Offy for the single barrels and link it to your gas pedal. That's a dilemma I'm working on and could use some advice.

Howdy, those are progressive 2 barrel Holley Weber carbs, I used the stock bell crank? (thing on the intake) I just cut it up a little, the linkage from there to up to the carbs is a stock piece of throttle linkage too, Then I just took a 5 gallon bucket handle and made the piece that goes from the bell crank back to the arm on your firewall. Its a little cheesy but the geometry was good enough to make it work ok.

The linkage for single barrel carbs is on the other side and would be different I think. Not sure though.

Ok I thought of that too but to hack it up and screw it up was the ice breaker. Truck is my daily driver so yeah. Lol. I'm about done just have to install everything.

Kool, Looks good, When my Pappy would run dual Rochesters he would build his linkage with small pieces of angle iron bolted to the main bolts that hold the carbs down, The angle would have a hole in each one that a shaft would run through, then he would mount arms to the shaft. His stuff was always on older trux but I can get a pic of a few of his setups if you want to look.

Dual carbs was always a must with Pappy, an headers, and dual points and,,, you get it.

That would be great if you could. Right now I'm trying to think/fab a bracket for my dual choke cable. Run it off the original but with a bridge link to both butterfly plates to work together in unison. I just need it to bolt onto the inboard side 9 the manifold and voila done.

Dillon, Id only run one choke, if you have 2 mounted up already you could hook the second one up like a Throttle adjustment like Old trux had, Manual ancient cruise control. Err unless its a 2 into 1 cable I mean.

Well it'd be one cable into two chokes. I'd use the single cable to pull a dual rod or something to pull both butterfly plates at the same time. I dig it TJ nice paint job and all. Same distributor I have as well almost. Lol

lots of potential with the 6. heres how mine started & ended (for now), 6 cylinders of raw domestic american power! may not look like much, but shes the most reliable truck iv owned, gotta love chevy
