Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
youtube. its easy. 1 big plastic bucket, 6' soild copper rod,1 manual battery charger, 1 piece of wood or plastic to suspend parts, and i used a heater duct spliter from homedepot, (4)2' rebar, i used a "cradle" mild steel it was in the same area as rebar, crazy thing it fits the spliter perfect as a hanging badket handle, (2) 1' mild steel coat hanger dia. works to make the hanging hooks, turn on watch it remove rust!!! watch youtube it explains it better...

LV, please, please, please put those salt flats on the front to see what the matching set looks like. I know it's gonna look great and I plan to run them on one of my trucks. Anyway, just kidding, I know you have a lot to do but I think I'm almost as excited as you are.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Small update.
Done nothing except move stuff around in the garage yesterday. Today Nicola and I refitted the kitchen, which we have not been able to use since the flood and ceiling issue in September. Glen, our plasterer and decorator finished downstairs yesterday ( He gets a house key and works between big jobs, but it means a substantial saving that can be used elsewhere but the house is upside down for longer) I was also helping him yesterday. Today I tried a single 6 fin oil heater in the spray booth area for almost 3 hours....... Made no difference, but I suspect my gas panel heater or the gas blower type heater will make a difference. I found out yesterday that Walmart in Texas had Chevy C10 Short Fleetside models in stock, so asked Bret to get Martin and I each one as want to custom match the paint on them to whatever we do to our trucks. Mine will be a bit easier, as it's a Short Fleet, but he has a Long Fleet, at least he will be able to get the colour matched to his paint. They are currently Blue, but that can be changed. Andy, and his blue gang in Bret's garage have offered to look after the trucks for us till we collect them in October in exchange for storage fees. Seems he has an eye on a restored truck for him and the boyos. 20141219_182307 by bjohnson388, on Flickr Also got great news yesterday from my contract manager yesterday to say the travel vouchers I had been awarded were not limited to one company, which means I can really look for the best deal possible. Ideally what we need is someone who works in the airline industry, who can get us a free upgrade to business class or a significant discount (I flew business class last year and it was rather good ) My wife works for a large company that has a travel company and we can get at least 10% off from them! which means steak, in stead of burgers one day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
In the mean time.....!
The Narrator has said that Andy needs to "just wait a minute" he knows the letter of the law, and extortionate storage fees cannot be tolerated...... We have an enforcer here. In other news, being the "Media Whore" that I am, the truck has had its first 4 page article published in the January 2015 edition of "Classic Van and Pickup" magazine. That's all for now folks, thanks for checking

That magazine cover gave me an 80's flashback.
Congrats on the cool magazine spread. I'd like to read it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Been on leave for 5 days, been busy every day, but not done much to the truck.
Today was another day like that, but again, I was busy the whole day. Managed to start on the truck after unpacking the inside, and tool box, as well as removing it and the rear mat. Got the grinder out...... always a good way to start a restoration. Ground off all the barsteward side trim clips that I had not managed to tear off before. Followed by using a lovely step-drill bit that Ta2Don sent me earlier this year, to remove all the rivets from the tonneau cover studs. Leaving me with this lot. At this point I would love to refit some new studs and get a new cover made up, to the same standard as the one coming off the truck. After this I just oiled up all the nuts n bolts I may be addressing tomorrow around the front end.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I got a great deal on parts for my build. A set of Dolphin gauges that will work in my stock dash for fifty bucks and a nearly new 650DP Demon Carb with 4 corner idle for one fifty, it will work perfectly on my 4.8L turbo motor.
Actual work on the truck...Got the lower panels sprayed in undercoating and the frame, its sprayed in a tight pattern so it looks more like a factory coating. I made the final adjustments to where the silver stripe will be.
