Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
Yesterday was a perfect nice sunny day, so I sanded, prepped, masked, and sprayed the bed liner. I coated the bottom of the bed, the inside of the bed, the front header panel, over the side rails, and the inside of the tailgate. I also coated the transmission cover to match the previously coated cab floor. I really like this Liner X-treeme product, and it looks professionally done. I mounted the tailgate to the bed with new pivots and stainless chains, and installed the step braces. I'll install the bed steps today. I need to get some fuel filler hose and vent hose to clamp to the tank, then I can bolt the bed onto the frame.

Thanks Mark, I'm really happy with it. I think it looks great, and it'll be durable when I want to use it like a truck.

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
Thanks! This is the same liner that I sprayed underneath and inside my cab. A 3 sprayable gallon kit on Ebay is about 200 bucks, and it comes with a cheap gun. I used the gun it came with, and just tossed it out when I was done. It screws onto the quart can of reducer, and it sprays out of that.

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
I like it. Had less durable stuff put on my beds sides and wish i had used a line x product. Anyone done the entire vehicle in a similar product?

Have you ever used Raptor Liner, if so how does this product compare?

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
I haven't used Raptor Liner. I know a few people that have used the Liner Xtreeme, and I liked it, so that's what i went with. It looks and feels heavy duty. I've had 3 trucks before that were professionally sprayed with Line-X, and this product looks pretty close to it.

That said, there's SEM brand bed liner all over my '58 but the only easily visible area is the cab step area. Hopefully it will provide a durable and attractive finish for years to come. |

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
I totally understand. Unless you really abuse it, the bed liner will look good for a long time. My work truck has Line-X bed liner, I haul semi parts and leaky hydraulic cylinders but it still cleans up nice. 130K and counting...

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
I stopped by Bowtie Bits and ordered a new windshield, so it should be here soon. I got the receiver hitch installed, and got the fuel filler hose and vent hose connected to the 32 gallon suburban tank, then put the bed on the frame and bolted it down. I need to get the insides of the rear fenders coated so I can bolt them on. I'll finish my fuel filler neck and cap in the driver side fender after I get the fenders fit on the bed. I don't think it's going to get mistaken for being a low rider...

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
Mine is 18" off the ground and at 70 both getting in and falling out is a little more than a just a nuisance.. Also getting wife and gran kids is and out safely w/o impacting clearance was a concern. Found that anything over 12-13" is great for sub step height to running board. The stance on yours looks really good BTW.

Re: 57 GMC, frame swap, 4wd, 454 big block, 4 speed
Very nice trucks for sure! My wife loves to get in my truck as the view is spectacular versus her Toyota. The problem is I have to lift her up to get her in or out. I am probably gonna drop the body lift off and see where I am at. From there, the four inch lift may stay or my failing hips may dictate another change. I am about 50 now so I have to get all this wrenching out of my system before I cannot do it anymore. HAHA! Then again she complains that the Trans Am is too low for her. I don't listen anyway...

I have loved this look for a long time, and I'm finally getting it built to how I have it in my mind.
