Re: Wife's 48

I realize its water over the dam at this point, but just for future things. On that 3rd brake light, instead of cutting out the big hole to weld in a piece to have a small hole (that in the end is going to require you to put filler around an open edge)...just use the part they gave you as template. Line up the spot, scribe the shape, drill a hole in each corner & "connect the dots". Would leave no filler work & a better outcome. Just my thoughts, Lorne

Re: Wife's 48

Haulin', I thought about it, but wasn't sure how to attach the screws to the back of the cab. I don't know how to weld them on like they did to the back of the plate. Any ideas on that? I have another cab and would like to add a 3rd brake light to it when I get back on it.

Re: Wife's 48

I finally got the frame ready for paint. The guy across the street owns a powder coat shop and he gave me the friends and family discount. So the frame, trans crossmember and front springs are at the powder coater.

So in preparation to put the frame back together, I've been working on some of the other frame parts.
IMG_0364 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

I used a satin black for most of them, but a matt black on the tie rod arms and some other things. Good news is they are all painted now, just waiting on the frame to get back.

Re: Wife's 48

Been slacking a little, but I'm going again.

Completely new front end, from the disc brakes to the steering gear box and everything in between.

The rear axle is finally buttoned up with new brakes and seal. Next time I hope to get it under the frame.

Re: Wife's 48

Thanks Joe.

I had them in like this with the 283, cab and radiator (pictures of the front end on it as well). HOWEVER, I didn't have the electric fan in stalled. So the motor mounts are loose, waiting to get check it again.

Good eye!

I'm going to set it back on the frame in primer and finish the holes for wiring. May paint the inside first, seems to be the way to go.

Re: Wife's 48

A buddy stopped by and looked at the truck and said "you are going to need a pusher fan for that AC condenser.
IMG_0392 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

Yes, I have the trans cooler, AC condenser and the radiator stacked, and I will be running a 16" puller fan. So I looked at the gaps between the three.

IMG_0393 by Robert Moorman, on Flickr

Radiator to condenser ~ 3/4", condenser to tranny cooler ~ 1"

What do you all think?
