Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Worked on the new bed wood from Classic Parts today. Whiteoak for the short step. Very pleased with quality! 1st pic is after the Minwax pretreat and conditioner. 2nd is after staining w/Early American Minwax. Spar Poly next and it'll be finished!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

after 2 bad 4l60e's Ive scrapped that plan and started putting the 3spd back in. new flywheel + bolts, clutch package, rear main seal. wanted to use the newer starter with old bellhousing. had to do some grinding but all fits well now

The only things painted were the firewall and inner fenders. They’ve been a mess for a number of years. The outside remains Blitz Black. It’s hard to photograph the details with all the dark dull surfaces. I made another attempt this morning and got a different shot that better shows the texture. I also reinstalled the original cowl vent until I can rework/repaint the other one.

I hope you didn't patent that... Cuz sue me, but I'm going to copy! That looks great. What did you spray it with?

I put a new guage cluster from Dolphin in and replaced the 15 year old 5" round outside mirrors with the larger rectangle ones from Classic Parts. My old eyes are not what they used to be.

UPOL Raptor Bed Liner. A lot of people buy it from TP Tools. I was in a hurry so I bought mine locally and paid more for it. Make sure you get the kit complete with the gun. The threads are unique to UPOL bottles. I have a 3M Schutz gun but it won't screw onto the UPOL containers.

Thanks. I'm going to order some. I'm right in the middle of prepping the engine bay for the new motor and this is perfect timing!

I can also vouch for the Raptor. I shot the entire bottom of my cab with it and it works great. Hardly any overspray and very easy to shoot. Mark's engine compartment looks even better in person. The wife and I stopped by to check it out and it looks great. I was going to use it inside my inner fenders but I may do both sides now after seeing it on Mark's truck.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

My son came over this afternoon and helped out with the heavy lifting. Got the hood reinstalled, completing the project. I’m looking forward to doing something else for a while.

Hauled my son in our town's Fourth of July parade this morning.

Now that I look at these pictures, it appears that I didn't get my door closed.

Revoh,

How big is your town or was that the historic area? Looks like a neat parade.

Well, in total, we've got 5,000 people or so. But the downtown is sort of like Mayberry and the old ladies converge every weekend to go crafting and antiquing, while the old men sit around on the benches. There's also a nice riverfront park there, but it's under water right now because the Missouri River is out of its banks. You can sort of see some of the sandbags piled up beyond the police car in one of the pictures. Usually the parade goes down there, but they had to divert it a little.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm on here a lot. Those are from a '65 Corvette. I'll probably put the originals back on it eventually, but sometimes I get the urge to change things around for awhile.
