Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Nice that you can keep your new truck inside and work the old truck also!

Yes, I'm very excited about that
![]() The first project in the cold will be getting brake lines ran and mount my new blazer tank. Neither of which I have purchased yet... |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
You ever have one of those days when you realize your piss poor organization skills are really fighting your rebuild? This transfer case is just killing me! I just found the washers that go on the input shaft, only to find that I'm now missing one of my driveline yokes. This just isn't my day :-)

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Okay, so I'm just silly. I was looking at the rebuild manual for the divorced T221, so there really are only two yokes

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Saw this old GMC on Bangshift with a set of sticks. Kinda reminded me of your build.
http://bangshift.com/blog/the-partin...sel-power.html I'm sure yours will be easier to drive and probably a lot quieter. ![]()

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Sad to say I haven't worked on the truck very much lately. I did buy a blazer tank for it. Now I need to get over to my dad's and get it mocked up. I hope to have that done here in the next couple of weeks. I still need to put my transfer case back together, but every time I look at it, it sucks all the motivation out of me

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
I didn't do a whole lot yesterday, but I did remove the rear cross-member so that I could place the blazer tank in to see where I want it front to back. My plan so far is to use some 1x3 rectangular tubing to make sure the tank is below the top of the frame. That is as far as I've taken this plan so far.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Seriously considering the blazer tank with mine, too. It'll be interesting to see how yours comes together.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Today it was above 30 in the garage, so I got out and put most of the transfer case back together. Let me tell you, I could have saved myself a lot of hassle had I been more organized and taken more pictures. I ended up having to tear it apart twice because I was being dumb in the entire process. All together I spent 6 hours on this thing....
![]() Tomorrow I plan on 5-s'ing my garage, then finish up this career project ![]() |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Small update. I finished putting the shift forks and the shift fork seals in today. I will now need to pick up some safety wire so that I can put a lid on this portion of the project...pun intended lol

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Thanks guys! It feels good to have this part mostly behind me! I'm going to post a message about using loctite on the shift fork bolts instead of the safety wire. Mostly because I have the loctite, and don't want to buy a 25' spool for something I only need about 1' for. Any thoughts?

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Can't you get some safety wire from a buddy you know that knows another guy whom works on air planes? Or get some from a parts store that uses the smaller wire for parts tags?

Not much done this weekend. I did happen to get the mounts made for the fuel tank. Bad cell pic, but here we go :-)
