And yes, build the 350 like you want it. A stock 350 will more than push your pickup, probably more than enough to get you in trouble.

Good work as always, it's really coming along. As for the 2 wheeled jobs...well. Thats pretty neat too.

-Sam.

Clip to come. I'm having some real trouble getting the exhast to seal at the manifold.
I know some sixers read this thread.
Anybody want to let me in on how your manifold looks when it connects to the down pipe.
Is there a donut in between the 2.
Any help is apprciated. This is really bothering me.

Someday for the 350 buildup.

Thanks Sam. 2 wheels are fun.

My cousin just got a 77 jeep hah thing is pretty cool. I'll have a pic of it.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

hi on my 250 i6 there is a flange that slides up and down the exhaust pipe and slips onto the 2 bolts coming out of the exhaust manifold.there is also a ceramic/fibre type washer about 1/4" thick that goes inbetween.its the same size as the exhaust pipe and is champhered both sides-this might be what you are missing.they also come out on 283 v8's with ramshorn manifolds so should be readily available.hope that helps.cool pickumup by the way.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

There's a donut that goes between the pipe flange and the studs on the manifold. That should be all you need to get it to seal, if I remember right.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

Yeah I got her sealed up there.
Bought a new donut and had to weld a flags cup type thing on.

But now it's leaking between the intake and manifold.
Is there a gasket I need or...

Will have a vid up soon.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

Is it possible the oiling hole in the crankshaft had an obstruction in that journal causing a severe lack of oil to the bearing? Thats what it appears to be, but without seein it, it's tough to say.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

There's a gasket that goes between the intake and exhaust manifold, since the exhaust provide heat to the bottom of the intake.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

so what do you do if you run headers?

im going to need a new gasket then cause its leaking but ill have that vid up after school gets out.
the truck sounds really cool and strong. the exhaust isn't loud since i got a mufller instead of a glasspack. thrush turbo muffler. cheap. but works and sounds prettty good.

You wait a long time for it to warm up or learn to deal with crankiness (like me before coffee)

I think Clifford has an intake that runs the engine water thru it to heat it up. Mine was juts a bit cranky when I had the headers on my six. After the engine warmed up things were OK.

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

Bill is right. If you run a stock intake with headers, you just have to let it warm up longer, and keep it choked longer, thus coating the intake with fuel so that it runs. When the intake finally warms up, the fuel will be much better atomized, etc etc.

Many of the aftermarket intakes have provisions for water heat that is just tapped in off the thermostat housing, I believe. That way there's a constant heat source, which helps the consistency with which the engine runs.

I'm sure you could rig up a water heat to the stock manifold, if you ran headers with it, with just a plate and some lines. But with the carburetion already strangling the engine, it'd be better to step up to an aftermarket.

That is, if you're considering playing with the 6 before you build the 8.

I didnt mean it to be rude. But thats sweet! No video of the wreck? I guess its better that it wasnt on the dirtbike (faster lol). Now you'll have lots of time to think about truck parts/plans

having a lot of trouble getting the motor to run. the valves are stuck and pulling the rocker arm studs out. so we have to pull the head. got it going on the other pistons for a little bit tho. so tomorrow where gonna drain the antifreeze and pull the head.
pretty neat little ride may resell but gonna get it road worthy. just needs brakes. has a 2 spd powerglide im not sure what the motor is. a 235 inline six? not sure
well her a some mixed pics some of the car and some of the truck
like the vids...?

wow beautiful impala i wish i had one and both inlines!! i love impalas i used to have a 77, not as good looking it was boxy compared to yours but i loved it. i believe the rockers were like that due to being too loose they worked them self sideways, or PO started on the motor and never finished just put the covers back on, and forgot about it.

haha both inlines.
we have 2 now. cool motors do you know what motor this is. what came in a impala in 62.

yeah they where quite loose so i tightened them down and turned the motor. and the valve being stuck worked the rocker stud out. on 2 intake valves.
pulled the intake off and there is gunk in the port and i'm wondering what would clean this up. i think its due to bad gas.

i hope to hear this old inline run!

Re: Project' 69 c10 aka sin.

That's either a 230 or a 250 - the square intake ports give it away. 235/261's had round intake ports.

*****in' car man, That sucker is cleeeeaaaannnn. Is it a Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne...? I see it only has two tail lights, I dunno when Impala's starting running 3 - so I ask.

As far as cleaning the ports out. Well, take the intake off, and scrape it out? Hah. If the valves are stick and rocker studs are pulling out...it might be best to pull the head and give it a good cleaning and fix everything before you try to start it up. Don't want to bend a pushrod or worse yet, have a keeper let loose and eat a valve.

Still, awesome car. Your brother's? Not gonna lie, I'm a bit jealous.
