Hopefully I can get the rear end steam cleaned within the next day or so to get rid of all the dirt,grease, and grime that's been on it then I can work on getting the housing into some POR-15 and make her look decent enough to put in this weekend throwing around the idea of having the drums blasted and powder coated red any thoughts? I still have my original drums as well if the next guy doesn't like the red I put on the new ones.. - Dylan

Was able to clean up the rear end last night and within the hour I hope to be laying down the first coat of POR-15 over the housing and drums to seal up that fresh dirt. Even hauled it in the bed! what a nervous wreck I was

Well I spent all morning and most of the afternoon around 5 hours total with a buddy of mine helping and swapped the rear ends no hiccups at all straight swap just like I expected. First impressions are that it's definitely a taller gear ratio (what are most common Im pretty sure mine were 3:73's these might possibly be 3:07's?) I can run on the freeway much easier now no vibrations no howling runs 60-85 without hesitation and not screaming on the rpm's. Brakes need to be properly bled but overall I am extremely happy with the swap. I Might do a thread on the swap since I documented it pretty well I'm sure there are others swap threads but maybe a few different ideals. anyway here are some pics enjoy - Dylan

Today was pretty successful had an excellent talk with the boss's and looks like I'll be able to buy more goodies quicker as well as some of those goodies showing up tonight! stoked about my new venture into wiring that'll take place however I really need some advice on getting this stuff in correctly and if there are any build threads that put it into simple man terms

something definitely solid would have to happen to make your axle snap never heard of that however I've heard of them sliding out of the housing but that's the racing background not daily driving haha

Yes it certainly has I'm starting to wonder if my old rear end was 4:11's and this one is 3:73's since there isn't a huge jump but enough to get some highway gear guess I won't know till I'm into it

Hooke up my new door trigger harness with the new pins on each side and I tested my dome light which worke like a champ until I touched the two metal prongs and blew some fuses so ill be making a stop to Wally World and o'reily tonight to get that issue fixed since I lost my instrument cluster lights in the process of that fiasco. Maybe some pics tonight my newly found truck buddy in town is swinging through most nights now

Well friday/saturday went very well for me I pulled my bench seat out on friday night and started on running the wiring properly from the driver to the passenger side had to install small washers for each door trigger as the holes are larger than the new pins. Also found some extra holes to use for courtesy light placement areas for now not factory nor the best spots but they'll work for now and actually do a great job.
Ran my dome/cargo light harness together through the cabs inner wall and door sill gutter dome works great however American autowire had a poor connector on the trigger connection and it ended up breaking I have no idea where I can find this kind of connector as the auto parts store doesn't carry nor does the local radio shack so I'm really bummed about this fact and don't want to have to buy a whole new harness just to fix it any ideas here?? I also replaced nearly all my old fuses (some actually had what looked like overspray from the factory or the P.O.'s on them have no idea how that would happen. everything works killer other than some brake light harness issues and a ground wire snapped on my front marker light slowly getting to everything there. And finally I had my buddy run my semi-new amp as well as check for distortion on my system and she certainly rocks out now so I'm proud of that so I had to do a little test drive with the rear-end and wiring so I put about 100 miles of solid 50-65 mph on the truck and was very impressed only lost a little over a 1/4 of a tank so mileage is definitely up so in all it was a pretty good set of upgrades. Tailgate is getting the sheetmetal cut off the face since it's a little beat up and the grille is still out getting stripped and polished I already got the bracketry back all nice and powdercoated waiting to go back together. Also had my door sills polished up they look killer This is that connector that I am looking for if ANYONE has any kind of info on it I would be forever grateful thank you!

Went ahead and also put together the glove box light/trigger in pretty straight forward process and was completely in and operational in ten minutes of routing and mounting.
Started by testing the bulb with the key in the on position and plugging the connector into the fuse block worked perfect with pushing and releasing the pin mechanism by hand, then I went ahead and unplugged and routed in through the glove box hole in the upper left corner wire/plug first. Found out that there isn't a hole already for the wires to go through so I went ahead and cut one seemingly unnoticeable for the plugs and wire to run through the side edge of the cardboard and down to the bottom edge of the dash then from there over and up on top of the column to waste some wire length before wrapping it up shorter and plugging it into the Batt. slot of the fuse block. Neat little thing about this wiring kit is that it has an extra connector so that you don't have to sacrifice one spot on the block.
