Hauling Concrete forms still bolted together . Fan blade exploded on the Pete and took out the radiator so I was in a Freightliner .

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
The Big Jobs preceded the Super Duty. I've always been fond of the 57-60 Fords. I think they are just plain bold, strong, stout, and downright handsome. It's funny cuz all the car converts say these are butt ugly. The same goes for the 61-71 Dodges. Just plain tough!

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
In '59, the grille was changed, IMO, much improved. This is the top of the food chain for Ford trucks with a GVW of 51,000 lb. This one had the 534 V8 with 5 speed and 4 speed and dual drive Eaton 38 DP's.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
I'd like to make mention that it appears there is some new interest in vintage trucks here lately, last sat there was a very small car show in Grand Junction. We thought we'ed stop by to see what was new, there was a 50s single axle freightliner there, old paint, nothing fancy, no sign telling who it belonged to, the owner didn't seem to be around though I waited long enough I gave up, no contact info. Yesterday we were goig through Delta Colorado and a bright red single axle cracker box turned onto the main drag and headed west, no time to turn around and follow him. This is very strange activity for around here. I will be researhing and asking around to see who owns these two trucks. Last year the Mack Volvo dealership had their first annual vintage truck show, it was great. Last week I called them to confirm the date, I was informed the dealership had changed hands and the truck show was history. Very disappointing.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
History like Mack engines, huh?* I couldn't believe that when I heard it. Most trucks out there these days are fureign.
But yeah,it's good to see more interest in trucks (unless it makes 'em cost a lot more to get) *Don't forget Caterpillar

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
There was a large variety old trucks (classic trucks today) auctioned off in the early 80's.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
On Post #344 notice the "tiny" Mirrors on the Blue Ford and the KW under it. By the time I started driving, luckily we had Full West Coast Style Mirrors.
Those tiny Mirrors was the generation before me and I could never understand how they could drive with those little things, especially with a Road Tractor. I can just imagine trying to back one up on the blind side. I even like Full West Coast Mirrors on my 1-Ton DRW trucks. Along with a Bolt-On Convex on the Passenger Side. Although on the flip side, all I want is what I need. I've seen some trucks today with about 12 Mirrors. Now they even have cameras!! Bill

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
I understand what you're saying, mostly what I see in the passenger mirror on the blue and white is the muffler and I'm not to happy about it. I'm going to fab new muffler brackets to move it 4 inchs around the corner closer to the winch.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful
The only thing cooler than that pic would be to have that truck pull up beside you at a stoplight.
