Re: Rods 57

I love your glovebox door and the shot ChuckDriver posted of the script under the back glass. With spring on the way I can't wait to see more progress on your truck. The shot of your daughter TIG welding is great. I always love to see my kids try/learn/do new things.

Re: Rods 57

So I didnt get a lot done on my truck this weekend, but I have a good reason. My son-in-law's grandfather passed away several months ago, it was expected. he was a car guy, he had many cars, many many cars. the first one they let us go get out of the barn is not a Chevy, but this is just too cool. Its a 58 retractable hardtop convertible, and grandpa wrote in pen on the inside of the door when he changed the oil, note 87280 miles 1985, well the thing only has 87301 now. So here it is in the unit on the trailer and after a quick wash in my next post.

Re: Rods 57

That is so cool. Is this a father/daughter/son-in-law project? Is the the son-in-law that has the cougar in your garage?

Re: Rods 57

I love your job on the glove box door, it came out nice. I was going to say you could send me the other valve cover for my glove box door, but after seeing Chuck's pic I guess you'll be keeping it, LOL.

That's a great pic of your daughter.

son-in-law, wife, daughter, dude next door project for sure. this car is fro my son-in-law. he is going to make it stop and make it go, then we will see what he does with it, I am just happy to help him get it on the raod again where it belongs.

Re: Rods 57

thanks everyone, we are thinking of taking the 58 F word to a show just to get it out in the world again. I have been out of town and the country for work but I am back now and doing a little. here is a project I have doing for my dad. He is in his 70's and has been a truck driver all his life. he still drives for a local company. so for fathers day I found a really cool peterbuilt hood emblem from the 60's -70's at a swap meet and well here is the rest...

And the finished product. It had some pins on the back so I tapped them and use two nylock nuts to attach it to my aluminum piece. I think it came out pretty good. And yes it has a lock on it so it stays on his truck.

As for my project. Its all taped up for the red bedliner to go in the fender wells and under the steps. Its early so we will see how far I get today. Thanks to all our Military members out here, my granddad is still with us and he was in WWII, my uncle is not with us and was in VN.

Re: Rods 57

Ok, I finally got some time in the shop. First, I got a new 20 foot pad in front of my shop with a drain in the middle.

Then I got to go in my shop today once the pad dried.

Re: Rods 57

I built a paint booth to see if I could keep the dirt out when I really paint this thing. I have been seeing what people use and got some good ideas from folks here. I used three filters for the air intake. I used a box fan and one filter for the exhaust. I got a tarp zipper at home depot for the door. A little tape and a day of set up....

Then I got busy. All four fenders, the bed sides, bed steps, inner fenders, and the front of the cab in red bed liner spray that matches the frame.
