Thanks Mike... we originally had it going to the shiny paint until I went to a car show and saw a beautiful truck freshly completed.. Taking it to his first show his wife was putting the pop vooler in the back and scratched the bed... I decided at that moment no shiny paint on the bed of Raymond because we are going to take it to the shows and have Lawn Chairs, cooler Tent and cleaning stuff... I really did want to deal with the scratch up bed on my 80,000.00 truck...

I saw it advertised on one of the Saturday morning car shows ( I think it was Gearz but might have been Trucks)... it is pretty user friendly... The color sample they sent match the color we were using perfectly but when we actually did the spray out it was way to blue... so we tinted the product to match so now we are going to have to respray the bottom of the cab...

Thanks Scott... it has came along way... and we still have a long way to go before it is on the road but I am actually starting to see a truck instead of just a compilation of parts...

Re: Raymond

We got back from Vacation on Wednesday and I couldn't wait to go by Chris Carlson's Hot Rods... They had several questions for me when I got there... One of which was am I ready for them to to do the final block on it so I can paint it or do I want it assembled...

With my budget and coming to the end of my work season I decided that we need to button it up and assemble it so I can bring it home until next spring...

then Chris wanted to know what I wanted to do with the Buddy Bucket frames... After discussing it for a bit we have decided to go ahead and finish it off and get it in paint do all I have to do is have them foam it and cover it...

I got a call From Chris on Friday telling me it is ready to go so I will have to go over on Monday and pay for what he has completed and make arrangements to get it home maybe next weekend if I can get "Haulin" painted and together by then...

Re: Raymond

I went to Carlson's today to drop off the balance due on the truck and found her sitting in the sunshine getting a suntan... LOL... she is all back together for the moment...

After some discussion with Chris we have came to how the bed cover is to be fabricated, so over the next couple of weeks that is going to be completed then the truck comes home...

We were going to plan to bring it home a week from Friday but with this fabrication of the cover it will be more like the middle to the end of September...

Here are some pics of Raymond getting some sun...

Re: Raymond

I was just sitting here this morning looking through the pictures of the progress on Our 67 Pickup and it just struck me that this is the first time in 4 1/2 years that it has been all one color...

Kind of makes me have a little tear in my eye knowing we are about to cross over the top of this mountain and start the down hill run to driving her...

I have to say that Chris Carlson after having a sit down heart to heart talk really stepped up and got to rolling on it... Jason at Carlson's is the one that has done most of the work on the truck and has done excellent work... There are a couple little things that Jan and I will have to address to bring it up to the quality that we will require from this build but I will give kudos to Chris Carlson's Hot Rods for succeeding in bringing what my vision for this truck is to the sheet metal on the truck...

At this point Chris and I had another discussion Yesterday about going ahead and welding all of the holes on the firewall smoothing the firewall completely... Originally I wasn't going to do this but I have decided to change direction with a couple things like dumping the OEM gas/brake pedals and going with the American wire system so the hole for the Fuse Block is obsolete along with several others... So Chris' guys are just going to close it all up so we have a fresh palette to start with...

I am very excited to see it with the bedcover on it...

Re: Raymond

Well here we are 9-5-15 and Raymond is back home... CHris asked me if I can put it on hold for a couple months while they get the shop back online...

They finally got everything settled with the insurance company and Fire Marshall so The Construction company is planning to proceed starting next week and it will be appx 3-4 months getting it completed... In the mean time they are trying to get 2 cars ready for SEMA and flat don't have room for a few of us smaller projects...

I am good with that as we have a few more custom touches I want to add to the truck and would prefer that Chris be able to have some hands on with these modifications...

There are alot of changes made to the truck with most of them being subtle but noticeable to those that know these trucks...

The engine for Raymond is sitting in the back Haulin'... So Haulin' is doing well in her new roll... LOL

Well here she sits all tucked away again...

Thanks Duane... I know everyone3 says go with fuel injection or LS motors and all that because of the reliability but this truck is going to be driven on a limited basis and I am going for the flat cool aspect...

Re: Raymond

I totally understand. I have the TriPower setup on my GTO. Love how cool it looks and the looks I get from people when I open the hood is fantastic. So much cooler than a 4 barrel or multi-port fuel injection.

Yep... and it will even be more of a surprise under the hood of a 67 Chevy Pickup... LOL

I'm with you on that one, there is nothing cooler than a Tri-power.
You can always put a LS in Haulin' since you will be putting a lot more miles on it.

Re: Raymond

Today we took Raymond's heart to Patterson Racing to find out where we are on it...I have faith that Alan Patterson can bring this little 327 to life in a very wild way... he is going to boil it out clean it up and gauge it then let me know how many thousands I am getting ready to spend... Of all the engine builders in the USA I really don't think there is a better person on small block Chevy engines...

Re: Raymond

Are you keeping the 327 crank so you can get higher RPMs or are you going to change it out to a 350 crank for longer stroke.
I guess you need to find out if it's an early or late run 327 to determine if that's even possible, either way just curious if you had considered it.

We are staying as much as possible with the 327 parts... This is a early 327 with a build date of 10/66... We are not building this for huge power we are building this for cruising, Reliability and that good old "Hot Rod" sound...
