Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

Still working on the body work, here are some pictures. A little boring but i know some of you like to see tons of pics. Pass door skin turned out very nice, I'm fine tuning the gaps and edges shape.

I'm off to Mexico in a couple of weeks for my daughter wedding and a little vacation at the same time. Can't wait to get out of this -40 degrees temperature we've had here lately. So work on the truck will be at a stop for the next little while.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

Here is one more thing done or i should say redone. I wanted a better looking grill with a more custom look instead of home build like the one i did first. So a couple months ago i got a machinist to designed the new grill on the computer and make it for me. We made this one out of one piece mirror finish stainless steel. Its laser cut and the holes were punched out with this huge computerize puncher machine. The first pic shows the old and new one side by side.

The grill is a very nice custom touch, better than factory.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

More body work this weekend, couldn't really do anything else, we got snow in most of the weekend from this blizzard that started Friday night. I hope this snow stop soon or we will still have snow on the ground in June. Anyway got a little more done on the front fenders, tried to fit the headlight ring, the new set i have don't match the fender at all. The originals do fit well so i may be using the old ones and get them chromed. This after market stuff sure doesn't always fit right. I'm happy with the door gaps and the fitment between the doors and the front fenders so far, will see later when i put the door seal on.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC

Wow i'm still doing body work and i thought it was almost ready for paint. Actualy the last guy that did the paint job said it was ready for paint. Been bloc sanding and working on the gaps for hours. Its taking a lot more time that i thought first. It took quite some time to fit the headlight rings, i have three sets and none of them fit right. I finaly put a coat of primer on the doors and fenders tonight. More bloc sanding to come. I still have to install the new driver side step. I should have that done this weekend.

It's really looking slick! I'm sure you are tired of sanding, but the finished results will be worth it, and you can say you did it yourself!!
