Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

The past 2years of my life have been very hectic and have gone through many changes. If I had the money I would drive down to pretons house in wichita right now and buy his ccsb. But I've got a limited amount of funds. So I will always be searching for the one.

And no matter what, as soon as you buy something, a better deal will come along. I waited a month for what I wanted, then settled for something else, now what I really wanted are all around for some reason.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

That my friend is exactly right. I know as soon as I buy something I will want something else.
Right now I've got a line on 3trucks to look at..a mint 76 2ws 1/2t suburban. A 74crewcab 3/4ton, or a 85crewcab dually work truck.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

I will take that as a compliment. The black over red paint scheme is very clean in my opinion.
But I only posted the trucks good side lol. There were a lot of inperfections that drove me crazy. So I'm not really sad about selling it. I made money and was able to pay off my divorce lawyer and still have a little bit of funds to find a new square. I might come home with 2trucks for the price of 1

Sorry I didn't mean to sound condescending or anything. I was just trying to say don't settle for a truck when you want a burb, or vice versa. Again sorry if it came out wrong. I know you really have the spark to make whatever you get a nice truck that you will enjoy cruising in!

Damn, I blinked and it's gone. If you don't have to have the pickup bed, the Suburban is the way to go for family duty. 2wd or 4x4, either way. Good luck finding one.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

My vote is on you find another CC dually and build a short bed dually hauler. There are lots of guys who have the short bed fleet sides, not to many are willing to do the extra work to make the truck a short bed dually.

I may be a little biased because I hate to see a 1 ton get neutered, I am still shocked that you sold it, but with the divorce thing I can understand.

Perhaps the next one will have to have a Cummins?

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

Well that would be too easy to make a short dually because everything is already there just shorten frame and bed and wala, but what fun is that we all have to make it difficult and round up parts, change our minds a 100X, do i notch the frame now for a drop kit or not, should i be different and put a stepper bed on it.. you see its all more interesting to

I neutered my 1 ton

Hell, I am leaving mine at stock ride height, and stock length and I have still managed to change my mind 100 times!

And why is it that about the time you get it all figured out you forget what it is that you wanted to do?

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

I think its human nature and part of the build process to change your mind 1000 times. If you reread this entire thread I've changed my mind so many times I ended up just selling the truck becuz it wasn't really what I wanted in the first place.

I looked at a 85 Suburban lastnight with a worn out 305 it just wasn't what I wanted. It was black which I love but I should have kept driving when I pulled up and they were trying to man handle the rear tailgate window up ouf the channel. The seats were torn the engine sputtered and even thought the price was cheap I passed on buying. Although in the same neighborhood sat 2 of kind Longbed Stepsides. The owner wasn't home so I left a note in his mailbox that I would be interested in either truck.

Those long bed steppers look kind of cool. You don't see too many of them running around.

Yeah but your 1 ton didn't have duals. So it was kind of neutered from the factory.

Re: BigRed 81 crewcab dually

I'd buy 1 of those longbed stepsiides in a heartbeat just to be different.
I think a crew cab longbed stepside non dually would look cool too.
