Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
I like that two tone down low like that. I don't think I've ever seen that on a truck.
If that dent didn't bother you, a paint and body man, it would certainly bother me that it didn't bother you!

Looks great, Randy. The white stands out a lot more than the tan did.
I had lunch with my SW rep today. They have a new guy in your area, so I told David to have him stop by and say hi.

Ya, I knew their old guy quit on them. I sort of miss Jim, he was a very nice rep for them here in Tulsa.
I knew the white would be fairly loud after we shot the front gravel shield a few months back and put it on. With the fresh red though, BAM!

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
That looks great! I have been following this thread for a while. Looks like you are almost done with the "restoration."
That's the exact same color combo I wanted to use on my project. I'm pretty sure they came in that color scheme from the factory, but I have had my eye out and can't remember the last time I actually saw one. My truck needed a new bed and I ended up with a stepside. Now that I'm using the stepside bed I'm going with solid red, but I sure like the way yours looks in red and white. |

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
I think that is the first one I've seen with the red/white combo Monte. The ones I always seen with the red/white had the white down the middle of the truck. Same colors just a different two tone combo (deluxe or whatever they called it) and a factory stripe.
Other than my bed getting painted today, everything else has just fell apart for me in the shop. Seems every job I have out there is basically costing me money in one way or another. I'm about to strangle some parts delivery drivers.

Got the white on it. Hard to tell, but it is white base on the roof and down low. Guys stopped to eat lunch, now they are wrapping the white up and will shoot the red. Oh the excitement.

Looks great, Randy. Now business will pick up so you can't get it put together.

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
Business has to pick up so I can order a few things so we can put it together. I think I have enough stuff to build the doors, planned on putting a new grille and headlamp doors on it, but might just toss the old ones back on for now. Have a new rear sport bumper for it already, which reminds me that I need to paint the gravel guards for the rear bumper. Wonder if they'd look better white or just go back the silver they are supposed to be.
I'm sure I'll be down here tomorrow drooling over it and wanting to do something to it. The hood for sure needs to be nibbed and polished, but for the most part I'll make him leave it alone.

Have everyone set the bad back on before you take off. That way you can get a little assembly done.

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
I was already a man short today, only had 3 of us there counting me. So no way we could get the bed back on yet. Plus I need to drop the drivers tank still and clean it out and get a new pickup screen put on it. Maybe that'll give me something to do this weekend. Glad you reminded me of that.
The bed is going to look strange until i can get the bedliner sprayed. I peeled the paper back a little and the difference in the color... wow. I still have the old plastic liner I could put in there, but damn I hate those things.

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
Well, was going to go in and drop the passenger tank and change out the sending unit while it was easier to get to. Thanks to O'Reillys though, guess I'll have to wait until I can get a GM part. Since I don't have a 25, 32 or 35 gallon tank, they were at a total loss.... I get tired of trying to explain things to the counter people there, and on the weekends the "smart" guys are no there.
So I just went in and painted the gravel shields on the rear bumper. Had some rattle can silver, was easy enough. Guess now I'll make me a little order with LMC or Classic, get my front and back glass weatherstrips. Still have to find some rod clips (that I broke) that go on the latch rod from the outside handle. They might be at the bottom of the door, but I'm pretty sure they broke. I also need to polish some of the lamp lenses and get my grille repainted. I just got flustered I guess after going to O'Reillys and just came home.

Looks amazing!!
Sorry I didn't make it by, that was a long ass drive Oriellys #FG05M is driver's side http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1997&ppt=C0025 Orielly's #FG05N is passenger's side http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1997&ppt=C0025 Looks like it is one they have to order them.... I usually look up my own stuff online and go in with a part number, saves the confusion some of the time

Re: Shop Truck refurb, code name Chaser
I usually look it up and order it online and it just shows up in about 15 minutes. But I'm not sure they deliver on Saturday, and they'd probably wonder why I was ordering when I was closed, so I just went in. Big mistake.
And yeah, on that sending unit they'd have to order it in from Dallas, it's not even in a Tulsa or OKC store. Might as well just wait and get it from my chevy dealer on monday.
