What, you wouldn't work on a C20 or 30 once in a while?

I know this post is a little old but when my Tahoe pulled the same lean on banks 1 & 2 codes it turned out to be a bad intake gasket. It only had 80k on it when that happened.

Thanks for the help, but my issue ended up being that Speartech programmed my ECM for E85, but my engine was not an E85 compatible motor (non-E85 injectors). Once he changed the program the lean codes were gone. The truck runs GREAT now.

Glad it was something simple.

Great build and fantastic truck.

When I have the funds I will be doing an LSx swap to my 67 K10 conversion and yours has helped in the planning of parts usage greatly. Thanks for sharing all the part number info. It helps a lot.

GM sells a pigtail for the alternator that has a resistor built into it that makes the alternator function in retrofit applications.

If the LSx alternator is like the previous design (the CS-130 alternator) you can also wire it up to your stock alternator warning lamp and that will make it function also. I put the CS-130 in everything I build.

Thats good to know, i just did a 2010 6.2 into my `67, its charging but i would kinda like to see the "GEN" light work.
Do you have a part number and maybe a wiring diagram to the alt plug.

This site has all the info you need for the CS-130 retrofit.

http://www.novaresource.org/alternator.htm

Pigtail with resistor: AC Delco #8078

http://www.oldengine.org/unfaq/10si.htm

Many of us have externally regulated alternators still so you will have to convert the wiring over to internally regulated first, then the wiring will work for the CS130 conversion.

Thanks for the kind words and I am glad to help. I try to always include part numbers so the next guy doesn't have to waste the time I did researching those little things. Good luck on your build. There are several of us on this forum that are glad to answer any questions.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

I just found out that the CS130D alternator uses a different connector than the older CS130 so the AC Delco part number I listed in post #361 will not fit the CS130D alternator on the LSx engines.

I'm pretty sure GM will have a version of the resistor pigtail for the CS130D but I don't have a part number for it.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

I finally got my AC system installed and charged up today. Just had 1 leak at one of the fittings that I forgot to tighten. I will try to post pics of the install soon. Man, is it nice to have some cold air blowin', just in time for summer.

According to John from Speartech, there is no AC request on the 2008 motors. It just senses the extra load and adjusts its idle accordingly. I believe this to be true because as soon as my compressor kicks on the idle raises slightly as needed.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

Here are the pics of the new AC system installed. The whole kit is the Old Air setup, except for the compressor blocks (Docs Blocks P#AA2210 and Ray's Auto Air & Heat P#06300739), the hoses (custom made by The Hose Man), and the compressor (stock 5.3L setup). The relay was added to turn both electric fans on when the AC on button is pressed.

They are blocks that bolt to the factory compressor to adapt to regular male O-ring AC fittings.
