Street & Performance out of Mena, AR. - www.hotrodlane.cc - 479-394-5711. Just give them your application info & they'll build them off that. They're really high quality - I got the ceramic coated version & they even came with the O2 bungs.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Ok, well I guess a smidgen of progress is better than absolutely none... Here's a few shots of the S&P headers finally installed on the new Mast motor. All this will look so much better once Mario paints the motor & the 3-pc covers are installed!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
And here's the Kwik Performance A/C mount installed. The compressor is just a mock-up version, there will be a new one installed prior to completion. I think it came out pretty nice, it's not factory, but once the engines all painted & detailed it should look nice. This may require a little trimming of the engine cover on the passenger side, but I guess we'll see.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Here's the power steering pump set-up that they decided to go with as well. Still gonna need to fabricate a set of lines to tie into the hydraboost unit, but guess that'll come later...
I'm getting very close to the point of turning over the project to Mario at Novelli Rod & Custom. I want WFO to complete the fabrication items, but think final assembly, paint & interior would be better handled by Mario than them & it would actually get done for a change! Only draw back would be the higher cost associated with his shop, but then again the truck could also get better coverage & be in more shows with the shops other rides (one of which is in Chevy High Performance this month). Stay tuned for more updates next week (with any luck)! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Here's what the shop came up with for my new Optima battery mounts. They'll be one on each side of the engine bay like there was from the factory - just gotta finalize where they'll sit exactly given the changes.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I've read all 15 pages of this build.
Let me say first off that you have an amazing truck being built. I've never seen a full build like this before. You should be extremely proud and excited. When it's finished (and it will be) you will have one very unique daily driver. It's a true "custom". This is truly a dream truck for so many people. **No offense, but I've noticed everytime you post a pic of something on the truck you are always so quick to add how "crappy" it looks because it isn't yet powder coated, painted, or it's not the final assmebly version. Man, it all looks great! Relax and enjoy it. You don't have to justify anything with us. Powder coated or not, you have a truly awesome truck!! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I know, I nit-pick a little too much... Usually when I mention that the part has been fab'd for a little while & it should have been sent off already. The whole "feet-draggin" deal from the shop keeps me frustrated quite a bit too. I know it'll all be worth while though once it's all said & done - just how long that will be is the question...

Pic of the belt they finally ended up using & the routing. They ordered new factory battery trays from LMC for the battery mounts pictured before to go on.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yeah, same question I had....... Have basically told them - either it starts getting regular work & progress or it's going to another shop - period! There's still a TON of work to do just to get it to paint & body & then a lot even after that....

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
And I really have no idea how long Mario will have it for paint & body either.... Want the truck done NLT end of January so I can get it in the Sacramento Autorama in February while I am home on my next vacation.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Well, here's the base battery mounts from LMC installed. Trevor thinks tomorrow that they'll get the new Optima mounts fabricated & mounted down onto these. I am interested to see how these will work out when they install the K&N intake kit I purchased. Guess we'll all see soon with any luck!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Well, when the time comes for WFO to send the truck off for paint body Mario states that the media blast will take 2 weeks & then he'll have it for another 8-12 weeks to get all the paint & body work done. So it's definitely looking like the beginning of next year just before the Sacramento Autorama before it's all done.... Seems like a long ways off, but as so many of you have mentioned it'll be worth the wait!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Good luck with it. Hopefully there aren't any big surprises when he starts doing the body work.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
There really shouldn't be any surprises. It's a 2 owner original California truck that has been well maintained - the shop building it even knew the original owner! If something pops up though, we'll just address it then - Mario is awesome & he's definitely up to the challenge!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Ok, so here's what they came up with for the battery mounts... Emailed them back & said that although I like the top plate, I am not satisfied with the original look of the factory battery mount. They're either gonna have to change it, or modify it to look more like the digital file they sent to me so it blends in better with the overall look I am after.
