Re: 72 k20

Life is changing in some huge ways. I’ve taken a new power plant related job in Albuquerque and will be starting down there before the month is over. Not going to be much wrenching this summer or for a good while it seems. In preparation I pulled the drivers rear shock mount out so I can weld the stud to the bracket and fix it for good hopefully. Gonna miss oil and gas significantly but am excited for the new career twist.

I’ll upload a picture later, the site isn’t letting me do it currently.

You moving down to ABQ? Or doing a weekly commute from Farmington? Either way, best of luck with the changes!

Re: 72 k20

Thanks guys, I will be commuting alone at first and staying the week in ABQ while leaving my family at our current home. We will be moving down there asap as the job requires it for on call reasons within the plant. We aren’t planning to live in ABQ but rather somewhere near by to be determined.

Re: 72 k20

Put the old Mickey Thompson classic II’s and 315/75/16’s from my 98 K2500 onto my K20. Looks like a whole new beast!

All the best to you and your family with the new job and move. Truck looks great on the 35's. Sits pretty level with what you did.

Re: 72 k20

Thanks man, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Just a slight rake to the front. Heres a pic of it in the hills earlier today.

Right on! Personally, I like a bit of squat in the back on a 4x4.

Re: 72 k20

I ran it up to 70 earlier today and not a hint of death wobble which is the one thing I was worried about in the back of my mind. I’m really pleased with it.

Re: 72 k20

I haven’t got any chances to really do anything from Memorial Day till basically now on the K20. I had it half ass put together when I started the new job (which is going really well) but it still needed shocks and new u-bolts. (I had a used set that I made work to get it put together in the short term but no real plans to drive it on the road like that) It also needs tires in a bad way. Fast forward to now, I got some parts rounded up for it. New u-bolts/dana 60 studs are in and the steering stabilizer. It still needs tires and shocks but hopefully in January I’ll get that rounded up. I’m living about 150 miles from my house where the old trucks are live. I only get up here once a month or so at best. It sat long enough that it killed the battery and I had to replace it when I came back up this time.

Hopefully in the coming 1st half of ‘25 I’ll be ready to buy a house near Albuquerque and be able to have everything back in one place again. Here’s a progress shot. And a shot from driving it out in the hills going for a walk earlier today(excuse my shepherd willow’s photo bomb). I really really love the way the front 60 drives. The extra weight down low really makes a difference in how it drives and the feel of it on the road, like an extra feeling of stability if that makes sense.

Re: 72 k20

Great to hear the new job is going well. Know about no time for the truck myself. Wish the best for you and your family in the coming year. Praying for some awesome changes in the next year for myself, everyone at the board, in the USA and all across the world. Your shepherd willow's presence in the photo of your truck brings up memories of Roxanne my dad's beloved shepherd. Loved it!
