We decided to pass on the trailer The blue didn't quite match the truck Plus I was worried about my gas miliage nOt really I've had so many of these trucks They all get About 10mpg Sometimes 9 if you are towing And sometimes 14.5 if you are going down hill A Long Time A couple days ago we might have got around 16 But it was all down hill I think I posted on elevation yesterday The carb loaded up before the first big climb Ever since then (perfection) somewhere in the mountains The gas guage stopped working That was a bit stressfull Not knowing how much we had Now we've been working on a formula How many miles to a tank of gas In other trucks I have had its easy (200) This hasn't been as easy because The odometer is off it rolls around 1-2tenths per mile And Hills vs flat. Vs lack of gas stations in remote areas But it has been fine so far Brake light actually came on over a week ago when We slammed the brakes To get a good picture of that red quanset hut We monitor them and seem fine |

But it loads way to slow on my phone I've never seen it till you pointed it out I'll check it out when I get home It's funny, I never set out to be posting cool pics When I started this thread, it just sort of happened Now I always keep my eyes open for opportunity. At the top of this mountain. In the most remote area I saw this sign. We said what the heck, no biggy Dirt road Only a gallon of gas out and back Let's do it I thought I could get a pic of a ghost town When we got there It was another mile walk (no problem) But it was so remote I was afraid to turn the truck off It has started every time this whole trip But if it didn't that time We were in trouble |

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast
Yeah, that would have sucked to be stranded out there with no food and beer joint. I know the feeling. You know you are remote when your mind gets so bare bones practical.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast
Wow Darby, I went to high school in Darby!!! Well my Junior and all but 2 weeks of my senior year there! We had a small sheep farm just out of town! If you look at the picture above there's a guy using a hay fork truck, our neighbor used to make these for people, he would buy old 2-3 ton trucks then strip off the bed and body, flip the rear axle over, build a huge fork with huge hydraulic cylinders to lift the hay on to the stack or beaver slide. That old guy taught me to weld, use a lathe, and fabricate.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast
I lived in Coalstrip MT when I was young. I have always wanted to go back and take my family to that area but the closest we have made it is Colorado.
