Before degreasing, deburring can wait as ppp smells volatile and sparks from dremel could have bad results

PPE required dust may be caustic or down right deadly

After reading precautions I decided to try a file and keep the dust as minimal Using a rat tail lends itself to follow the contour of the sheet metal sort of gauging out an area to be filled later with?

Re: PO has me PO'd
I would stick to the panel bond for gluing 2 pieces together.
Then switch to the tiger hair for filling in the low spots. I am going to guess less then favorable results filling in the bolt holes. Probably best to glue small patches underneath and tiger hair over top. |

Re: PO has me PO'd
You can tool the panel bond out with a body filler squeegee. Just like you would with glazing putty. That should reduce the amount of sanding and reapplying you need to do. Depending on ambient temps it can definitely feel thicker/stickier than glazing putty. But, it still spreads out fairly well.
If you want to fill those screw holes with it. Chamfer both sides of the holes you want to fill. And clean the the surrounding area to bare metal with a 36 grit disk. Just like when you're bonding two body panels together. Then fill the holes and spread a thin skim coat of the panel bond over the top. If you do any finish sanding afterwards. There should still be a skim coat of panel bond surrounding the holes. I would not do this for any exterior body panels. Last edited by Grounded63; 10-02-2024 at 12:32 AM. |

Are you saying not to use this product to hang body panels, because that was my main purpose to try it out

Re: PO has me PO'd
No, it's made for hanging ( mostly non structural ) body panels. Gluing some pinch seams together in place of spot welding.
But, it shouldn't be used like a filler or have an exposed Seam in the middle of a exterior painted panel. Like if it was used to fill the roof to B pillar lead seam on a car. Or like a partial lower quarter panel replacement that was flanged. If the panels were panel bonded at the flange and the seam was filled in with panel bond. Then just sanded flat, epoxied, 2k surfacer, blocked, sealed, top coated, cleared. That " exposed " panel bond Seam has a tendency to " shadow " through the primer/top coats. |
